CV's are promoting wrong message here.

Yes you are absolutely right. I too have never come across any Dr who asks someone to give medication to a person without his/her knowledge. To show such a thing on TV which is watched by so many people, is utterly irresponsible. This is a very serious mistake on their part.

I'm not liking this storyline at all, sanchi is just plain evil and self-centred apart from that there is nothing wrong with her, yes seeing a counsellor for her issues might help but I'm not seeing the point of her seeing the psychiatrist. What kind of diagnosis was that she didn't even see sanchi and took a normal conversation the wrong way. She provided pills and said to give it her without knowledge, what will the pills do and won't it make her paranoid that she feels sleepy and then conclude they are drugging her. Sanchi doesn't need medication she does need counselling. I feel its a mockery of mental health considering sanchi is not mental disturbed she just vindictive in nature.

Agreed. S is a devious, evil spoilt brat who thinks and cares for no one but herself. She definitely needs a counsellor. But even if the Dr has asked for her to see a psychiatrist, what kind of psychiatrist would prescribe medicine without seeing the person, and worst still ask for tablets to be administered to her without her knowledge? Utterly ridiculous and irresponsible to even suggest this sort of thing on TV!

I think more than Sanchi over reacting to Anandi - Anandi is highly bi-polar as soon as Sanchi is in her proximity.
I think Shiv shud get a transfer to another city away form Sanchi and then - he will get cosy time and she will not be so obsessed. 😉 😛

hello all.real life psychiatrist coming to answer queries here, though belatedly..😛 (thesis submission and wedding both coming up together..no time for anandi's "detectivegiri" these days)..
yes, covert medication (or giving medications slipped in food) is advised ONLY if the patient is PSYCHOTIC and cannot take the decision for himself in his state of mind..where he insists tht there is nothing wrong with him and the medications will harm him..it is given so as to not allow the illness to further flare and the patient harming himself or others coz of his delusions/hallucinations.. it is done after explaining explicitly the pros and cons of the medications and consent of the relatives who take the decision for the patient..sumthn similar to admission of a psychotic patient without his consent/use of restraints/giving injectables..all of these measures are to be done, if in favour of the health of the patient and with consent of the relatives..believe me, MANY patients have to be given covert medications, coz of the significant effects of the illness..once the patient is in a state to understand the situation, the medication is stopped and the patient is explained the repercussions of not takin the meds..its called developing "insight".. then the meds are to be continued with consent of the patient..but again, relatives are explained abt the possibility of patient again stopping meds and refusing to visit doctor and how to tackle tht..
sachi, tho evil incarnation herself is NOT psychotic..she has a wierd but intact judgement.. she CANNOT be given meds this way, even with consent of the relatives.. if she aint willing to visit the psychiatrists, it is the job of her family to convince her to do so..if sulky teenagers can be convinced, so can she..the shekhars took the easy way out of this..
secondly, without assessing the patient in detail, the psychiatrist shud not have given her ANY meds..if it were the real world, sachi cud have sued the pants off the psychiatrist for this..
thirdly, it was abominably STUPID of the CVs to show anandi give her sedatives in the MORNING instead of night, when she actually NEEDED to sleep..but these are the same people who came up with the "bullet in brain" track, so am not surprised...
tht ends my crash-course on covert medications.. wish me luck on my thesis submission otherwise my guid will make me cancel my wedding..😉
