The badshah of small screen, Rajeev Khandelwal, does not only rule
over hearts but award ceremonies too
Small screen actor Rajeev Khandelwal is euphoric these days. After
a successful run of Left Right Left, which in a way was his comeback
show, he has won the Best Actor award at the Sansui Television
Awards ceremony held in Mumbai recently "Winning an award is always
a pleasure. It was a different show and I am really delighted that
something out of the league has been finally acknowledged, " says
Rajeev.
It was indeed an eventful evening for the elated actor for more
reasons than one. To begin with, he did a live performance with
Aamna Shariff that was much appreciated. Second, it was the first
time that he came face to face with Ekta Kapoor after their recent
fall out. "Dancing is something I have been cautioned about by a lot
of people. Still I took the challenge by dancing on Hrithik's number
from Dhoom 2. I did my best and the response told me that even the
audience appreciated it," the actor beams.
So what with Ms Ekta Kapoor now? Apparently, Rajeev and Ekta had
an interesting interaction long before the event. Quiz him on that
and he says, "There were certain media reports about Ekta and me, I
just wanted to clear the air on the same. So, I sent her a text
message and expressed a willingness to meet." Although the meeting
could not take place, Ekta had reacted to the reports to which
Rajeev says, "We exchanged wishes at the award ceremony, there's no
animosity from my side, it's just that I don't want to work with
her".
Cut to his personal life. Rajeev is out for a long
and "unplanned" vacation. "I want to be away from Mumbai for as long
as possible and for that I am out with my laptop, 15 books and
almost equal number of DVDs." Ask him about the places he would want
to go and he says, "First my hometown, Jaipur, and then hill
stations in North India." Lastly, what's up with Aamna? He flashes a
smile and says, "She has been the only women in my life for many
years. But I am not dating her or anyone else." He adds, "The day I
will have something concrete to share, I will paint the town red."
We shall wait for the day, Rajeev!
