According to history, Akbar forgave Shareefuddin thrice before he was ordered to be killed...

I could be wrong, but I think that's what happened...

Similarly Adham was also repeatedly forgiven till he actually ended up killing Shamshuddin Atgah in the palace!

Then, Adham was dropped down from the tower twice or thrice till he actually died!
