Chapter 1
The city of Amer was fully decorated.Everyone was packing their gifts.After all that day was a special day for the whole Amer.Inside the Amer fort.Mainavathi and Dadi was sitting in the garden.
"Tumhari bhet taiyyaar haina Mainavathi?"Dadi asked.
"Aapko kya lagtha hai maasa ki hum aaj ke din ko bhoolenge?kabhi bhi nahi..agar bhool gaye toh who toh humara vadh kardenge".They both smiles..Bhagwant Das enters
"Maasa aapne Jodha ko dekha?"
"woh mandir gayi hai"
"Chaliye ab maasa bahut der ho gayi unke paas chalthe hai...agar deri ho gayi toh..."
"ha..ha chaliye...Mainavati got up and they all walked inside.
The room was silent.The Sun's pleasant rays made him remember about the day.He got up fastly.
"Subah ho gayi..subah ho gayi...He looked all around but no one was there.He was disappointed.
"Kiseeko yaad nahi hai.."he lowered his head
"Janam din ki dher saari shubhkaamnaayein Salim..."
He looked above.His whole family was standing infront of him and that too everyone with lots n' lots of gifts.
"Sabko yaad tha ki humaara janamdin hai"
"Hum kaise bhoolein ki aaj humare priy Salim ka janamdin hai.."Maan singh sat before him.
"Aur humaare Salim k liye uske Bhaisa ki taraf yeh rahi bhet".He gives his gift but Salim was still disappointed.
"Arey kya hua aaj aapka janamdin hai aur hum sabne badhai di..ab bhi aap khush nahi ho?Dadi asked.He looks at them.
"aap sabne toh de diya magar jinhein dena tha who nahi di" Salim said in a disappointed tone.
"Aisa kabhi hua hai kya ki humaara Salim kuch chahe aur woh na ho".The unexpected voice surprised everyone.
"Ammijaan...".She sits infront of her son caressing.
"Janamdin ki dher saari shubhkaamnayein Salim.He hugged her with joy
"Aur humara bhet kaha hai?"
"Yeh rahi aapki bhet".She showed the bow she brought for him.
"Arey wah! Shastr..humein kabse yeh chahiye tha..aap duniya ke sabse achhe ammijaan ho".He exclaimed proudly.
"Magar humara doosra tohfa kaha hai ammijaan?".Jodha became a little nervous
"Ab konsa bhet hai Salim?Mainavathi asked curiously.Jodha looked at Mainavati helplessly.
"Ammijaan ne humse kaha ki humaare iss janam din pe who humein humare abba jaan se milaayengi.Kaha hai who ammijaan?Aapke saath hi aaya hai kya?"
Jodha didn't knew what to say?Neither she could bring his abba jaan nor she could see his disappointed face.She lowered her head with eyes full of pain and tears.
"Humein maaf kar deejiye Salim..hum apni vachan nahi poora kar paayi'.Tears rolled down from her eyes.Salim wipes her tears.
"ohhffoo ammijaan koi baat nahi agar aap unhein nahi laa paayi toh..hum woh sah sakthe hai magar ammijaan ki aankhon mein aarsoo Salim bardash nahi kar saktha.Aap math royiye"
Jodha felt revealed.She hugged him tightly.
"Humara bachha..She kissed on his fore head.
"Ammijaan aap shaam ko shastr chalaana sikhayegi na?".She nodded her head
"Salim ab snaan karne chale?.Mothi asked
"Haan chaliye..."Everyone left the room Mainavati and Jodha was alone there.
"Jodha tum teek hona?"Mainavti placed her hand over her shoulder.
"Haan maasa hum teek hai"
"Jodha,Salim ko aisi ek vachan dene ki kya zaroorath thi jo tum kabhi poora nahi karsakthi ho?"
Jodha turned back."toh hum kya karthe maasa?hum apni bete ki niraash mukh nahi dekhna chahthe the"
"Yeh kehke ab who aur bhi zyaada niraash ho gaya na?khair chhodo ab uss bare mein zyaada baat nahi karthe hai..waise aaj javaisa ki bhi toh janamdin haina?"
"Uss vyakthi ke bare mein humein koi charcha nahi karni hai maasa".
"Aisa math kaho jodha who pati hai tumhari"
"Nahi maanthe hum..unhone ek pathi hone ke farz kab poora kiya hai"
"Humein yeh lagtha hai Jodha ki tumhein shahenshah ko yeh baat bata deni chahiye ki unki ek waaris hai.Aakhir kab tak aisa chalega..kabhi na kabhi unhein bata na padega na?"
"Nahi maasa..ghrina hai humein uss vyakthi se..Salim ki maa aur baba donon hum hi hai..paanch saal se bhi zyaada ho gayi hai hum donon ko alag hothe huye..ab tak humne Salim ko sambhaala aage bhi hum kar sakthe hai"..She stops and leaves the rroom angrily.
"Hey maa mmhaari bachhi ko zara samjha deejiye".Mainavati also leaves
The city of Agra was also in the mood of a huge celebration.It was Jalal's Birthday.
The room was silent.The lamp infront of the kanha's statue was still burning.He stood alone infront of the deity.once she worshipped there day and night,she used to sing bhajans in her melodious voice which always pleased him.It's 5 years since he heard her sweet voice.He came near the window.He always likes to be in this khema.Whenever he is here he feels her presence.He was all busy in his thoughts.A warm hug from back woke him up from his thoughts.
"Saalgira mubaarak ho Shahenshah."He turned back he was surprised to see her face.He cupped her cheeks.She continued
"Aapko kya laga ki hum aaj ke din aapko mubaarak nahi denge?"
Jalal was happy to listen her voice.He hugged her passionatelty
"Hum jaanthe the ki aap zaroor aayegi..hum bahut khush hai..ki aap humse milne aaye..Jodha...
"jodha???..."She separated him from her.
"Jalal yeh kya kah rahi ho tum?hum Jodha nahi hai"
Jalal was also shocked to see Ruqaiyya before him.He was silent for a minute.
"Tum abhi tak unhe nahi bhoole hona Jalal?"
He looked at her disappointed eyes.He took a deep breathe
"Aise koi baat nahi hai Ruqaiyya who bas humse galthi hogayi na jaane kyun unke naam zubaan par aaye.Hum unhe apne dil se hata chuke hai Ruqaiyya nahi sochthe hum unke baare main"
She hugged him.
"Tum khush toh hona Jalal?"
"Beshaq hum bahut khush hai Ruqaiyya".She felt relieved and she hugged him more tightly.
At the same time Jodha took the mangalsutra in her hand
"Janam din ki shubhkaamnaayein shahenshah..she said to herself.She felt as if he was listening.
"Bhale hi hum aapke saath na ho magar humaari prarthanayein humesha aapke saath hai.She puts the mangalsutra back into the case.
He was also listening to her.He said to himself
"Jaanthe hai jodha beegum ki aap humein mubaarak zaroor dengi.aur hum woh dil se qubool karthe hai".He smiled and in Amer she also smiled.
