Ok guys.. i think that one main topic whcih might've come out of the last episode is the controversy between Euthanasia and Murder:

Euthanasia: killing someone on their request

Murder: killing someone in cold-blood..(of course) without their permission

the main question which surrounds this discussion is whether euthanasia is forgivable or not? Murder is, and i think most of you will agree with me on this, not forgiven under any costs. But as we saw in the last episode, Capt. Rajveer performed euthanasia because Navin told him to kill him. But Naina hasn't and might not for a long time forgive him.

I personally feel that what Captain Rajveer did was right. Navin would've died anyways after court-marshall and it is definitely better to die in the hands of your best friend. Naina, however, being his sister sees it as murder in cold blood, because even after everything.. it did take a person's life.

In real life, euthanasia is often condemned by capital punishment, even thought the people who killed them were requested to or couldn't see them suffer. A famous case of euthanasia is "Million Dollar Baby" of course.. Mothers also sometimes "kill" their children in case they are sufffering from diseases such as "Huntington's Chorea" or something..

Thus, it would be interesting what you guys think of euthanasia and murder?

Do you think that euthanasia should be condemned? Is murder ever forgivable?
  • and mostly, Would you feel comfortable and do it if your best friend wanted you to kill him/her.

I would be very interested to learn your views on the controversy between euthanasia and murder.. + this is a part of my school project, so if you reply, i wil include your replies in my school magazine 😳

Note: this is NOT the DOTW..I hope Mods won't mind me posting a discussion topic😳

I think euthenasia or mercy killing should be allowed only in extreme cases.........when the patient turns dangerous for people around him as well as for himself.......only in that case mercy killing is justified....it should be taken up as a last resort after exploring all other options available............so only in these cases it should not be punishable by law because it is relieving an indiviual from his sufferings.........

its better to die peacely then die with torture.I dont think it should be punished because the person only asks for it.But i dont think i wud ever kill my friend if he orshe asks for it Only a brave person can take such a drastic step.

Depends on da reason of coz...for eg naveen..his reason was preety good for him to ask Rajveer to kill him...beoz it was better to die wid peace rather than get tortured and crucified which gives a feeling worse dan hell

Is murder ever forgivable?

Never...it should never be forgivable...euthanasia of coz is forgivable...

and mostly, Would you feel comfortable and do it if your best friend wanted you to kill him/her.

If my friend is in a living hell...and is longing to die(for a valid reason)..I wud kill her though after killing her I would also die.....

lol...I would also add one more point...its very easy to say "I would kill my friend"...but difficult to actually perform that act...I admit dat

Awesome topic Shreyasi....hope u get many replies so dat u get helped wid ur project...😊

Sreyasi first of its a very good topic....👏👏
Euthanesia shouldnt be condemned. according to me atleast under th following circumstitions...
  • Suppose a person is in very bad stage 'n he cant tolerate any more pain or torture,n he asks his frnd to kill him...i dont se that as a murder. But b4 being killed i wud prefer some record shud me made as that the person had asked to b killed.Or else the person who shot wud b in trouble as per our Indian Court Rules.
  • Suppose a person turns extremly violent..He/She causes trouble to many people..Then if sum1 kills him/her tats 4 th good f society😊...
  • If a person loses his hands r legs in an accident..'n is suffering badly...its beter to mercykill him as tat wud make him free frm th whole torture ,pain..'n give him eternal relief..

Murder isnt forgivable.....unless and untill tat murder is for a gud motiv.....The Court needs to understand Euthanasia and murder separately..

If ever my best frnd asked me to kill him i'll b in total dilemma.😭😭...1stly he's my frnd..'n i cant see him leaving me ..'n th world ..tat too frm my own hands😭😭..
2ndly i cant see him suffering also😭😭....
I might end up killing him/her..If i dont ..'n then my frnd is compelled 2 suffer a lot..th pain wud b never tolarable 4 me😕😕...

Luv
Jicksy..😛

Hi all

this topic is great, thanks shreyasi, I feel to produce correct definition here

Euthanasia (from Greek: -, eu, "good", , thanatos, death) is the practice of terminating the life of a person or animal in a painless or minimally painful way in order to stop suffering or other undesired conditions in life. This may be voluntary or involuntary, and carried out with or without a physician. In a medical environment, this can be carried out by oral, intravenous or intramuscular drug administration.

Laws around the world vary greatly with regard to euthanasia and are constantly subject to change as cultural values shift and better palliative care or treatments become available. It is legal in some nations, while in others it may be criminalized. Due to the gravity of the issue, strict restrictions and proceedings are enforced regardless of legal status. Euthanasia is a controversial issue because of conflicting moral feelings both for the individual and between different cultures, ethnicities, religions and other groups. The subject is explored by the mass media, authors, film makers and philosophers, and is the source of ongoing debate and emotion.

According to this , it is justified in some countries, what about India

India says No to Euthanasia
There has been some agitating lately to legalize assisted suicide/euthanasia in India, of all places. Apparently, the government has turned a firm thumb's down. Good.

In reality, Rajveer will be punished. In LRL , Rajveer might be excused as he killed a supposed spy and not an innocent human. They may take it as Raj killing a terrorist and will not punish him and applaud him as Navin was gaddar in the eyes of Army.

As for Naina, I dont care whether she forgives and loves Raj or not, any way a new actress is being introduced in the show as per latest article about LRL-2.

Very nice topic Shreyasi....

As far as Raj is concerned honestly I believe wat he did can not be justified....Getting scared at d thot of Pain dat Navin can go thru if caught cannot justify Raj killing him instead of fighting for him.

Bt apart frm dat I do support Euthanasia bt only as d last option.....If here is no odre way of relieving d pain of a person n Death is the only solution then it can be performed bt if there is any kind of hope....even a slightest ray of hope exists....euthanasia shud not be performed.

If I hve to perform euthanasia on a near one frankly I wud never ever be able to do dat for d only reason dat I m a very weak person n doing anything like dat needs a heart dat I dont hve.

hey..gr8 topic!! well, i think that 'euthanasia' is really a very complex issue which has more than just one facet.
firstly, there is the 'freedom' point of view. anarchists believe that the state cannot impose limitations on our freedoms...including our right to end our own lives...but, in India at least euthanasia is illegal and punishable. so in our country at least we have to follow what the law says.
also from the religious point of view..islam forbids euthanasia...since we believe only Allah has the right to decide who should live and who should not. humans do not have the right to do so.
thirdly, even in the countries, like the netherlands ,fr eg, where euthanasia is allowed, it is accepted only under certain conditions.
all said and done personally i feel, where there's life there is hope....i dont think euthanasia should be legalised.
however only under certain very special circumstances should it be allowed , like if a patient is suffering frm a terminal disease, or something like that, with consent of the president, doctors, etc.
coming back to the serial , i think mainly our reason fr being sympathetic towards rajveer is cause he's the hero and a very nice human being. but him killing navin was not only hasty but also irresponsible....an act of cowardice..both from navin as well as raj.
naina is probably the strongest character in lrl...its not going to be easy fr her to forgive raj..after all he not only killed her brother but also, in a sense, betrayed her trust by lying to her all throughout the serial. naina had put raj an a very high pedestal in her life and now he came crashing down. naina herself might feel guilty for falling in love with her brother's killer.

mercy killing can hold valid for one and only one reason - that the person or victim concerned is undergoing so much of pain and torture unable to live, eat or even die. it should be an extreme case of suffering where death or killing the person is the only solution.

in my opinion raj need not have killed naveen. as naveen had already escaped and both r intelligent they could have used their brains like raj is doing now to protect the trigger. but both r emotionally weak and raj ended up killing him. believe me naveen situation was bad but not bad enough that he had to be killed.
