Who is at fault in these accidents?

I got my license recently. I don't know much about driving rules yet. I live in Mumbai and its normal here to get into accidents.

I've been in a couple myself already sometimes at fault and sometimes not at fault. There are a few that I had arguments about fault so I'm not completely sure.

1) I overtake a car and beep the horn. I am already half way in other lane and van hits my door in other lane from behind. Who is at fault here? I had a long verbal fight, he was very persistent and eventually I gave him some money and he shut up. Similar this happened another time and a car hit me and he too argued for a long time with me and made sexist remarks (I'm a girl), and eventually no one paid and I just left.

2) Similar to 1 ... I overtake a car. As I go in other lane car speeds up a bit, there is on coming traffic, I turn into lane ahead of car I overtook and he hits my door. Extreme argument over this one police came but didn't side with anyone. Eventually I left, he followed me, we stopped again and I paid him a small amount. Who is at fault?

3) I'm at a junction, a come a bit forward to see traffic and small lorry hits my front. I did not enter the lane. We argued over fault there was hardly any damage for him. Eventually I paid him a small sum and he left.

4) Reversing out of parking spot in mall not public road and honk and a lady reversing behind me hits my car, she had reversed more than me. She was nice and said she was sorry. We didn't argue or pay as damage was small.


In India people really argue a lot and long!

Also just to be sure, if a car stops suddenly and I hit its back I'm faulty right? I've had arguments over that but later realised its my fault.

Anyone? I'm really confused about this.
