Kulvaddhu Goes Off Air!
[8 Mar 2007]

Anuj Saxena's ' Kulvaddhu', which was launched on Sony with much fanfare barely two months earlier, is going off air. The production house Maverick has been given a notice of two weeks to wrap up the show. It will be most likely replaced by Smriti Z Irani's upcoming serial ' Viruddh.' According to sources, the decision to axe the serial was taken after a review of its T R P, which was found to be very bad. But then even other shows of Sony like recently launched ' Durgesh Nandini'
and ' Jeete Hai Jiske Liye' are not doing very good on the T R P front. This decision may have to do something with Sandiip Sikcand who is having some tense relationship with Sony management at the present moment, as Kulvaddhu was the first serial to go on air after he took over as the creative head of Sony.

It may be recalled that it was Anuj Saxena's first serial production from his own company. Kulvaddhu is a story of a simple girl Niyati, played by Daljit Kaur, from Rajasthan whose life gets entangled in the unpredictable web of fate. The cast includes Daljit Kaur, Milind Gunaji, Kitu Gidwani, Sushmita Mukherjee, Sachin Sharma etc.
