Jalaal-Jodha: Kadoorat na sahee, mohabbat bhi nahin?

First things, first.

Jalaal and Jodha stand in their 'INDIVIDUAL' rights today and maybe tomorrow as well. What Jalaal has done as an emperor is an aggressive echoing of leadership. political dominance and a purely pragmatic step. He has won back what he gave in alms. As a king he has done what any ambitious and truly imperial king would do. The way Achal Uncle tried to corner and arm-twist Jalaal , Jalaal has still been nicer . If it would have been any of the Rajputs, Achal wouldn't have lived to see Vajendar's and Sukanya's marriage.

But as soon as Jalaal steps out of his kingly shoes, takes off the crown and stands next to Jodha , its another layer altogether. Its not exactly betrayal or backstab - its pragmatism and for Jodha , that is the same as Spanish and Persian. From Jodha's POV ( irrespective of whether writers say it through Jodha or not ) , its a twisted game of layered shades of hero and villain that Jalaal has played. She stood by him and up for him and defended him - "If he has not given any promise , he will not give Ratangarh Fort". Even when she came to know the truth, she told Jalaal after much thought , that she is confident that he will find another groom for Sukanya and he will not give the fort . Matter closed. She could not understand why Jalaal threw a last minute googly and she , having understood Jalaal, if not having dissected him yet , demanded the truth from him. Just tell me . Why did you give the Ratangarh Fort? Jalaal didn't answer and left her with a riddling puzzle.

Today, Jodha's intuition that Jalaal was upto something came out in the open in a much worse and disgraceful manner. Yes, Jalaal has done what a truly imperial and political king will do but as a wife, Jodha has been hoodwinked and if she is hurt and venomous , it is justified from a purely emotional POV.

Because all said and done. Jodha had categorically stopped Jalaal from giving up the fort and not kept any grumbles and trusted him to find a good groom for Sukanya. The matter was closing until Jalaal's neurons went into the excited state.

I am not saying who is right or who is wrong. Am just saying that in their spotlight zones, JJ are justified . The problem stems from criss-crossing Jalaal's imperial decision with his fragile relationship with Jodha. Its a huge breach of trust between them and i don't think Jalaal was even thinking about how Jodha will react - as his whole focus was on how much am gonna gloat once i get my baby back. Truth hits home tomorrow if Jodha goes mercurial.

As for the episode, i still see Jalaal's original craving to nab , grab and possess Jodha. The instantaneous cooking spoon stroke to Jodha's hand as he grabs it like the foot of an eagle would grab a spring roll. He grabs her hand so hard that Jodha feels her veins throbbing and it pains her. And Jalaal even sweet talks the priest just so that Jodha's hand stays in his grip. He even voices it to the audience that teasing and harassing Jodha gives him a high - that not even a 100 wars win gives him. I don't see anything remotely romantic or tender about Jalaal's possessive grip. Its the same as it was when Jalaal had held Jodha's hand for the first time. Same smirk, same ownership approach.

Infact , when Jodha manages to escape Jalaal's grip after the 'aahuti', it gives you the impression of a deer escaping a lion.

Yes, Jodha tells you that she knows Jalaal is sweet talking the priest just so that he can hold her hand for a long time. But does she understand what is behind all this tease and possession?

I , for one, did not see anything romantic or tender at all , in Jalaal making springrolls of Jodha's hands. Its just outright physical possession and the high he gets out of cornering Jodha. Am not saying that Jalaal is not falling for Jodha. He is. Jalaal's heart plunges towards Jodha and its true , because like Roggie Beghum says you cannot condition your thoughts and actions 24x7. But... in his conscious mind, Jodha is still a fortress devoid of his conquest. Aaj bhi use fateh karne ka armaan hai. Aur ye rahegaa jab tak dimaag ki batti nahin bujhegi aur dil ka bulb nahin jalega.

I will love to be proved wrong in all this but Jalaal is a labyrinth and all his moments of conscious behaviour towards Jodha have been of 'conquest'. And no, am not taking off-guard moments like Jalaal in Mahakali Devi temple or Jalaal being touched by Jodha's little poem and honey spoon in the same vein. At those times, his heart was the front runner, not his mind.

I liked the end of the episode , though. Achal Uncle deserved all the garbage that Jalaal gave him and all the threats he gave him, warning him against hurting Sukanya. How i loved that Bhukkad's scared face and of course, Jodha's " Nahiin Shahenshah" avoiding a bloodshed.

Kamaal hai. Na Kadoorat ( hatred) hai aur na mohabbat (love) hai, lekin jo bhi hai , bahot gehraa hai. Jodha stands up for Jalaal against her own kin. Jalaal's raised sword finds its way back into the 'Myaan' on one cry of Jodha.

Pretty intense, hmm?

P.S- What black humour ki dukaan today. Jodha maaroes taana to Jalaal that he always snatches things from others. And parallel to that Jalaal snatches back his fort by declaring a surprise war. And while Jodha's folks tell Jodha to go and thank Jalaal, by the end of the episode, poore 'aabhaar' ka 'Ameri Achaar' ban jaata hai. 😆

Vicki...i am done deciphering Jalal ...i reach no conclusion and am left more confused ..hence like you will put my money on him when he screams out loud that he loves her minus the smirk😆...the man is unpredictable and only he knows what is going on in his mind...given his character ,he is not the one to do any kind of fakeness and he is not doing it also...he loves teasing her ,annoying her ,he has not shown any intentional love towards her and thankfully even jodha is not swayed in that path ...so the question right now is ..where is this man going ..the answer is i have absolutely no idea😆...he craves and lusts for her ,is very obsessed and passionate about her and in his own way cares deeply about her...this much am sure of mercifully

and as for what he did...as an Emperor he wanted to deal with that pitiful king and the king deserved every single blow...but he cannot think or see like a woman that sukanya will never even utter a word against her sasural ever ...she is the collateral damage of this gamble...and jodha sees this ...hence if tomorrow she blasts him ..he deserves it ...sukanya's life has been put at risk ...her whole life...jodha wanted none of this and Jalal should have found another way...his political move is going to cause personal tsunami...

Nice post...Jalal was superb in the last scene, you don't talk to emperor like that and get away with it!! Somehow, I don't find Jalal wrong in this whole issue,he is an emperor and is acting like one!👏
Is it only me who felt Jodha's 'he snatches everything from others' didn't make much sense??Why suddenly this after so many days that too when he had just given the fort...it's not as if she knew what he was up to🤔
True...there was nothing romantic about the way he squeezed her hand. What you said above can be the perfect explanation for it...maybe😕
Precap is

Vicky🤗.Been having net problem for a couple of days
Anyways lovely post 👏.
Jalal is a very unpredictable man.His multi layered personalties can really leave me baffled and confused.Jodha still continue to taunt him about always taking away things that doesnt belong to him. Here his expression was serious. There was no infamous smirk or brushing anything away with jokes. His face remained hard,no frown lines,no smiles,no raised eyebrows...just a clench jaw and almost unreadable face.
The hand holding part is exactly like a deer trying to escape her predator the lion.Jalal loves to make Jodha uncomfortable and raise her nerves. That grip did remind me of the first time he held Jodha's hand...it was possessive and it sent shocks through Jodha's body.I do think he was flirting with her...the way his thumb was deliberately and consciously stroking her hand while he gripped her.
Jodha knew exactly what he was doing and he found the perfect opportunity to corner her in front of everyone. The part when she pulled her hand back to herself you could see Jalal clenching his fist and turning away.He felt hurt that Jodha again rejected him in the form of refusing him the comfort of that soft hand.I saw him turning his head away as someone who has just been humiliated and his ego was bruised there. He didnt let anyone catch on what was happening so he covered his face with a mask of unreadable smirks. One thing that i have learnt is that when Jalal smirks it doesnt necessarily mean he is happy or satisfied...it means something is definitely cooking in his mind bad or good.
Rest of the episode was alright.Achal Singh looked like he was going to piss his pants😆.
I am going to miss this Amer track...its back to Agra again.
Precap:I still dnt get why Jodha is in the forest but my Shaguni Bai instincts tells me she was probably looking for Mohan😆

Thanks Sunny. Yes, we don't trust Jalaal's intentions regarding Jodha until he howls in emotional waves that he truly loves Jodha. He is so complicated that he is gonna get caught in his own complications.😆...Yes, he has a fatal attraction and a nearly fatal attachment to Jodha but whether he has realized that he has a 'seene -mein-dil' is still a dicey question. As of now, he is a royal chhichhora with her with bouts of shocking expressions of 'almost love'.😆😆😆

True. Jalaal thought politically and egoistically - but he never thought from the POV of a husband or a brother-in-law once the marriage was okay-ed. On top of all that , he hid the truth from Jodha and i still say that making claims that Sukanya is gonna live like a fairy is his over confidence. Its another thing that Vajendra is gonna be a good husband in all probability. For a change, Jodha has every reason to go mercurial on Jalaal.😆

Beautifully written.
Jalaal's actions of late seem to indicate more of attraction, wanting to posses, playfulness rather than true genuine feelings.
Also trust wise while he knows she would not kill him he is yet to begin to trust her words or else he would've pondered over her bit abt Shariffudin,
There is a long long way to go for Jalaal.
The last bit regarding the fort did get a bit out of hand. That's why I had wished they'd found a middle ground but oh well...Jodha intervened on time and am glad Jalaal took Sukanya into consideration and said whatever he did about his reaction if she is not kept happy.
Precap:😆😆😆😆😆
Another long day ahead in anticipation.
How did Jodha alone under a tree😆😆😆😆Not complaining.
One thing I found amusing is typically they use the "right hand" for all hindu religious activities. The pandit should've asked for jodha 's right hand to be kept on Jalaal's... That would've been even "cosier" as she would have to move closer for that 😆😆😆
