I don't live in Denver, I'm in California but the little I can tell you is it's cold, elevations are fairly high and it will snow before the end of the year.
Denver is a very nice area, there are a lot of things to do if you like outdoor activities during the winter Denver is famous for its skiing, there are tons of parks and the hiking can be fun if you're more into indoor things they have beautiful museums and great neighborhoods to just wander through.
I don't spend too much time away from the coast but my friends that travel inland love Colorado and Wyoming... since my geography sucks I'm thinking they aren't that far apart. Several hours drive or an hour or so flight.
So all and all my friends that have been through or lived there loved it.
