Its 21st century serial liberty coming to play here...it'd possibly be easier for viewers this day and age to relate to them as long as they didn't show Jalal very superior. Even Ruqaiyya calls him by his name... I doubt the real Ruqs would have called her husband by name even if they were best friends...

Didn't even Queen mothers refer to their 'king' sons by their titles once they'd ascended the throne and not on a first name basis...

In the beginning, Jalal has shown the attitude that you talk about 'I'm the Shehenshah, so pay respect' kind of dialogues were there...but, all that was before her suicide attempt.

He's changed from then... thankfully, he's not mellowed down with everyone else though...

It is done so because it will be more palatable to today's audience. If any ruler is portrayed how he was, a majority of audience will not be able to digest it. It will limit the audience. In fact the makers have shown guts in not hiding the harem and multiple marriages. Every authentic historical document backs that Akbar mellowed down in his middle age. In spite of authentic documents the parliamentarians created ruckus and objected to akbar's portrayal. Even the historicals like prithviraj chahuan or maharana pratap have tweaked and toned down content. I think jalal is nicely portrayed in the show. He looks every bit royal yet relatable. He convinces one of his authority yet vulnerability. They should never reduce him to chocolate hero and seeing the graph of this show it should not happen. I am able to differentiate when an emperor is talking and when the husband takes over.

He doesn't get carried away. After the miscarriage track he is shown far more sensible. He has his own tactics to handle every individual. He has different set of strategies for different individual. With these royals one ever knew, if they took fancy to someone they would move heaven and earth to win it. The history is full of instances good enough to shock you and make you question how could he do this? It's insane😆 .

i am not sure in jehangirnama salim refers to mother by title mariam uz zamani but father akbar as father only
may be in private they could call by name especially his cousins like ruqaiah and salima since they know him from birth. You cannot keep calling someone jalal all life and suddenly at 13 call him shahenshah. In public yes you have to call shahenshah but private they must be calling each other some names which we are not aware.
And remember Akbar was a liberal person unlike many monarchs of that time.

Hmmm...i agree..n even...jalal's potrayal shows that akbar was much forwarded...he gave his wives n evn othr women to speak...n xpress them...especially to jodhu...she's sooo damn blunt in front of her...n even while MC track...once he said that...may it be girl or boy...it doesn't mattr to him...he treats both equally...so much forward thoughts...so...maybe this character potrayal does make sense!!!

hmm...I think he enjoys her lectures as no one dares to raise his/her voice before Shehenshah...and in initial days it was shown Jalal salutes the guts of people who face him standing tall...sar uthaye,,,naaki sar jhukaye...e.g Maan Singh.
aur waise bhi usko mirch ki adaat hogayi hai😳

well in 16th century context jalal is no doubt very forward. yes he had his own ego issues with jodha & initially tried to scare her, but ,other than tht bangle scene, he never crossed his line. he could have changed jodha's religion or stopped her krishna puja by blackmailing her, but he never did tht. jalal was initially showed as a cruel person, but he could have done worst as per his initial characterization goes.& ruquiya always dominates jalal & jalal always have been a very gud husband towards ruquiya. infact, his respect towards salima is also quite commendable.
