I don't know if festivals have lost meaning. I think festivals are all about coming together as family and share happiness (Do I sound like KJo🤢?). For me festivals mean just that. How different was Diwali before? We burst crackers, share sweets, wear new clothes, lit diyas. Other things associated with festivals doesn't matter to me. I don't believe that we are losing everything now and anything olden is golden.

I always knew that you were connected to KJo (atleast on an emotional level😉)

BTW, I agree with you.... Festivals still hold the same meaning for me as well, the way they are celebrated might change but the sentiments associated will always be the same.

I agree with you. We perform Durga Puja in our home and what attracts me more is the chance to meet all the relatives and be with my cousin bros and sis rather than the very formal ritual part. I do follow the rituals but IMO festivals were primarily inducted into the society for socialising and having a fun time in general.
