Shekhar Suman is set to reinvent himself yet again. The film hero-turned-television comedy king is now ready to cut a music album, tentatively titled Simply Shekhar. The album will release in the first week of April.
Says an excited Shekhar, "It has been a long-cherished dream of mine to cut my own music album. And finally I have made it. My album will feature eight love ballads and the music has been composed by Aadesh Srivastava. It will be a contemporary music album."
Why this sudden interest in music? "It's not sudden, for sure. I have always been interested in music since I was a child. I have always thought of cutting my own album as a singer, but things did not materialise earlier. So, I gave it a serious thought and trained in classical music for two years. Now, my album is ready. Even the video has been shot beautifully. We are going to release it in the first week of April," says Shekhar.
Why yet another career move? "It's exciting to do new things. I have been doing television for very long, and I do get bored doing the same thing every day. Moreover, I need to shed the image of a wise-cracker, that I have been carrying for so long. So, I guess starting on a new course through music will give me a new creative high," Shekhar says.
Commenting on other projects on the anvil, Shekhar says, "I am presently busy with my television programmes. I am also doing an interesting big-budget play that will address social issues like farmers' suicides. There are also two off-beat movies in the pipeline."
