Nazim article: A balancing act..

At JW Marriot, when you stand acquainted with Mohammad Nazim, who plays the lead role of Ahem in the show, Saath Nibhana Saathiya that is telecast on Star Plus, he greets you with a smile that conveys sheer warmth and affection. While you relish a cup of hot coffee over an effortlessly transparent conversation with him, he spills the beans and comes straight to the point as he details the purpose of his visit.

"I am acting in a Punjabi film, Full Fukrey, which will release in January or February. The film is about three brothers and it is an out and out comedy film," He says. Nazim opted for a Punjabi film because he hails from Malerkotla and connects with Punjab, from where he started his career. "After serving at Bodyscapes as a gym trainer, where I was paid only Rs 1,800, I took to modelling and did Punjabi music videos. It was fate that I was picked for Saath Nibhana Saathia three and a half years ago." Even today, his loyalty remains with the television show and even though he has been offered several chances to participate in Nach Baliye and Jhalak, he turned them down primarily because of his loyalty to his debut show. "The makers of reality shows required me to quit Saath..., since there is a lot of inter-channel competition," he shares.

In the meanwhile, he says that it was not easy for him to act in a film and do the show at the same time. "The only way I could have worked in the film was that I work for the TV show in the day and the film at night, so it was really hectic for me," he explains. As he talks about his show and the film, he shares, "In the film I play the role of Balli, an innocent man and though he is looking to get married, he is jinxed with bad luck. However, in the show, both Gopi and I will be seen trying to get Jigar and Raashi together."

We wonder if he gets any time to celebrate the festive season, "I love Diwali and will be celebrating it with my friends, including Saurabh Pandey, my co-actors of Saath Nibhana Saathiya and the caste of Full Fukrey, including Navdeep Sharma, director, Raaj Jyotishi, Lakhwandir Singh and Arjun Bijlani," he signs off.
