The story is about the Raichand family and their trials and tribulations. Vijaypath Raichand, the business tycoon, is the head of the family. It is shown that because of his business mindedness, he had failed to give attention to his children and he made them do only what he wanted and this pushed them away from him. Yash Raichand, the eldest son, left the house when he marriesd a woman, Tara. Vijaypath did not accept her so they left the house and made a life of their own. Abhay Raichand, the second eldest, was forced into marriage with Krishna, the beloved bahu of the house. Abhay did not want a typical Indian girl. He wanted someone modern who could walk by his side and not behind him. He never looked at Krishna and one day, it got to him and left the house forever, leaving Krishna there. From that time on Krishna did not remain the bahu of the house but Vijaypath's daughter, whom he put his sole trust into. Aditya Raichand, another son, one day came and told Vijaypath that he cannot live under his shadow all the time and he wants to make a life for himself and with that, he left too. Kabir Raichand, the youngest brother, was a spoiled brat who never cared for the money he had and wasted it all on gambling, bars and girls. Vijaypath was furious with this and so he kicked him out of the house. Uday Raichand, the adopted son, left also and lived in London. He did come back for four years. Shania, the daughter, lives in a hillstation and is studying there. The only son who stayed with Vijaypath is Yuvraz, the third eldest. Yuvraz is money minded, manipulating person who gets what he wants no matter what. He is a sort of negative character. In the house also lives Maya, Vijaypath's sister. She hates Krishna and wants her out of the house for good. She has been the one who brought up Yuvraz and it is because of her that Yuvraz wants the entire Raichand Empire for himself. Vijaypath's closest friend and business partner, Arjun, is secretly his worst enemy and he want to get the Empire from Vijaypath's hand.
In the beginning, Vijaypath suddenly starts reminiscing the things that has happened with his family and he falls ill. Krishna is really worried and tells him that it is at this time when he should find his broken family and put it back together again. That same night, Uday returns home for good and this makes everyone happy except for Maya and Ajun. Arjun feels that the more closer VP gets to his children, the more Arjun cannot stand a chance to get the Empire to himself. Krishna takes it upon herself to find everyone and bring them home to celebrate VP's birthday. One by one she tracts them down and talks to them to come home even just for one night. It is only Abhay who cannot be found. They are all hesitant at first but then they all agree and come home. During the party, VP calls a family meeting in private and tells his children to come home. He puts a deal forward and tells them that whoever can stay with him in the house for an entire year will get loads of money. They are all shocked that their father cannot understand how a parent should act and leave him.
Krishna is saddened by this and VP tells her that this was the only way he could think of to let his children come home. Krishna says that it is through love that he will be able to get them back.
She goes again to talk to them one by one and after a lot of convincing, she gets them all to come home. She convinces Tara to let Yash come back along with her and their daughter Millie. She convinces all the others too.
The family is almost complete now and VP has also accepted Tara and given Kabir one more chance.
Now that the family is whole again, the stories of the brothers and their individual lives are shown and how it affects the family.
VP decides to hand down the MD position of the Empire to one of his sons. Yuvraz feels that he should get it as he was the son who stayed with VP (although the only reason he stayed home was so that he could control the company himself). But since Uday has come back home, VP decides to give it to him. This sparks an enmity between the two brothers as Yuvraz feels that it is not fair to give the company to Uday and Uday isn't even a real member of the family. There have been countless confrontations and word tradeoffs betweed the both of them. In the end, Uday refuses the MD position and this leaves the position hanging again. Uday, one day sees a girl, Ananya, and falls in love with her. Destiny makes them meet again and soon they become friends. Uday wants to be more than just friends and he feels that he is getting there until one day, he finds out that she is a really close friend of Yuvraz and she is in love with him. When Ananya finds out that Uday is Yuvraz's brother, she tells him to help her gain Yuvi's (Yuvraz) love. Uday compromises with the situation and Ananya makes a plan to make Yuvi jealous by flirting with Uday in front of him. Once again, a competition starts between the two brothers and this sparks even more rivalry between the two brothers. Yuvraz decides to take advantage of the situation when he finds out that Uday is in love with Ananya. Yuvraz does not believe in love. So Yuvi calls Ananya one day and tells her that he loves her and that he wants to meet her in the farmhouse in the evening. Ananya is thrilled and goes there. In the farmhouse, Yuvi makes her drink juice which he secretly drugs. She gets drunk as she is about to leave. He gets her and puts her in bed goes on top of her and giving a wicked smile as the camera fades away. Next morning, he gives the impression to Ananya that they made love. He reveals his true colors and tells her that he did this to take revenge on Uday. He tells her everything and she is disgusted with him. He tells her that Uday can now have his second hand if he wants. Ananya runs to her own home and tries to burn herself in her room. Her mother panics and calls Uday. Uday reaches there and saves her just in time. Ananya tells him everything and Uday promises to never leave her and to love her truly forever.
In Kabir's life, although he spends his nights at bars, there is a girl, Tanya who wants him. She goes after him and he tries his best to avoid her. He had a one night stand with her and she has been after him ever since. Later, it is shown that she is the daughter of Arjun and she is helping her dad to snatch the Raichand empire from VP! One day, Tanya comes and tells Kabir that she is pregnanat with his child. This shocks Kabir and this brings disapproval and shame to VP. Arjun comes and tells VP that to save face of both families; Kabir and Tanya will have to get married. Arjun pleads VP for his daughter's sake. VP agrees. When Arjun goes back home, he and Tanya celebrate their victory and he tells her that he is so happy that she got herself pregnant by Kabir as this has brought them so close to what they want. Some time later, Tanya tells Arjun that she is not pregnant and it was all just an act to get Kabir. Arjun is disappointed and tells her that it was a really foolish move on her part.
Aditya was a very good person but he became a drunkard and this caused a rift between him and his love, Sameera. After Krishna talks to Aditya on returning home, Sameera tells him to do it. She leaves for another country and says that slthough she loves him, she has to leave him and he has to return to his family. Aditya returns home but he is still a drunkard. He realizes that he cant live without Sameera and Krishna and Tara tell him to go after her. He quits the bottle and goes to find her.
Yash and Tara live a very happy life along with their daughter Millie. When they return home, they are very happy and Tara is very fond of Krishna and they become like sisters. Maya is not happy with this so she tries to fill Tara's mind with false accusations on Krishna and tries to get Tara onto her side.
In the midst of all these stories comes a Shimla raaz that only VP knows about and is willing to do anything to keep it a secret. It is the biggest secret of his life and it might have something to do with Abhay. Somehow, Arjun finds out that there is a raaz and that there is someone in Shimla who VP is paying to keep his mouth shut. Arjun tracts that person down and brings him to Mumbai and pays him more to tell everything. That man agrees and as he is about to go meet Arjun, he meets with an accident by none other than Uday, who was driving the car that hit the man. As he recovers in the hospital, VP and Arjun both continue seeing the man and bribing him to keep his mouth shut. VP does not know that Arjun is responsible for this. In the course of this deadly game, the man mysteriously disappears from the hospital. Arjun kidnapped him. His goons torture the man into revealing everything but the torture proved too lethal and they accidentally kill him.
After this is over, a new twist comes when Krishna starts sneaking out every night. She makes it a point to go when everyone is asleep. One day, Tara finds out and questions Krishna. Krishna says that she is not doing anything wrong and is doing it for the sake of the family. Tara quiets down. It turns out that Krishna goes out out every night and dresses up in a very modern fashion and puts on a wig and a fake name, Nathasha. She goes to a club where she waits for someone. Soon, it turns out that the "someone" is none other than Abhay! Krishna disguises herself as Natasha just too meet him and to get his attention. So, every night she goes and eventually, they start talking and Abhay falls in love with her (Natasha). During the course of this time, Abhay helps a few members of the family when they needed help, he fended off goons from beating a drunk Kabir, he bailed Uday from prison when Yuvi put him there through trickery. Soon, Tara gets agitated protecting Krishna and her going out at night. Tara demands to know but Krishna keeps mum. Eventually, Maya finds out too. During the course of this, Durga, the sister of VP's late wife Gayatri enters the show. She is there to stand up for Krishna and help her put the family together.
Soon, Abhay is so in love with Natasha that he sends over divorce papers to the Raichand house for Krishna. Maya is very happy that now Krishna will be gone. Krishna then decides that she will reveal her true self to Abhay. That night, she does so and tells Abhay everything and Abhay accepts her as his wife and that night, they make love. Krishna tells Abhay to return home with her but he says that he cannot. He tells her that all these years, he was in Australia. Then he found out that there is someone after the Raichand family and is out to destroy them. And that person might be someone close to the family. He is in pursuit of that person and he cannot do that if he goes back. He has to stay away for a while.
That night, Abhay leaves Krishna at home and they hug before parting. Tara, Maya and Durga Masi see it. Maya tells Tara that she knew it from the beginning that Krishna does not have a good character. This is when Tara turns against Krishna and teams up with Maya. They make her life a living hell because they think that Krishna used to go out at night to meet other men. Even Yash goes against her. They treat her very badly but Krishna does not say anything in hopes that Abahy will return home soon and the truth will reveal itself.
Soon Abhay tells Krishna that he found a clue to the person he is after and he will have to go abroad for a week or two. After that, he will return home.
When that week or two passes, Abhay calls VP and tells him that he is returning home. Everyone is happy and is waiting for him. Krishna is thrilled that whatever bad name was given to her will be cleared now.
When Abhay arrives at the airport, the police are there to arrest him. They take him away. On the way, it turns out that they are not the police but some goons out to kill him! He escapes and runs but as he runs, a car comes in front of him and the scene fades away.
Back home, everyone is waiting when there comes a doorbell. VP opens and it is the police carrying a dead body. They say that they found him in the highway and that he is Abhay Raichand.
Grief swells through the Raichand family as they mourn the death of Abhay. They do not see his face though, since they are too grief-stricken.
Soon after, Krishna finds out that she is pregnant and Maya and Tara accuse her of carrying someone else's child. She has had enough of them and reveals everything to them but they do not believe her and she cannot produce any proof. Life gets worse for her and she decides to kill herself. But Uday saves her just in time.
The police investigation goes on and during that course, Uday retrieves Abhay's cell phone and sees all the messages and realizes the truth of Krishna and sees Abhay's mission too. He tells Krishna that he will find out who is after the family and goes to Shimla to find it out as there is a clue there.
After that, when VP finds out the accusations against Krishna and her pregnancy, he calls a family meeting and asks Krishna to tell who the father is so he will marry her off to him. Krishna insists that it is Abhay's child. Maya says a lot of bad things to Krishna and when things were reaching their peak, Yuvi tells Maya to shut up and that he heard enough of her nonsense. If Krishna says that the child is Abhay's, then it is. He says that he will not let Krishna suffer so he takes her hand and brings her to the mandir and puts sindoor over her head. This leaves everyone stumped.
Maya questions Yuvi on this and he says that everything he said to her at that moment was just a lie to get Krishna's trust and the reason he did this is because VP has given Krishna 50% of the property in his will. Now that he is married to her, that property is his too. Maya is pleased with Yuvi.
Krishna, now married to Yuvi, still suffers from Maya and Tara as they still do not believe her but all this changes on Krishna's birthday by the appearance of a jeweler who comes to give Krishna a diamond necklace. He says that it is from her husband Abhay. Everyone is shocked and question the jeweler but he says that he knows Abhay very well and Abhay went and bought the gift for Krishna a few weeks back and told him to deliver it on her birthday.
The truth is finally revealed and they all realize that Krishna never lied. Tara feels very guilty along with Yash and they return to her side once more and give her the love and affection that she deserves.
VP tells Krishna that since the truth is out now, if she wants, she can annul the marriage with Yuvi. Krishna is about to do so but Yuvi emotionally blackmails her by tearing up and saying that he wanted to be a father and all that. He says some really emotional things and this makes Krishna reconsider and she finally decides to stay with him.
The next day, Yash tells VP that he should go have a break as he is old now. Yash offers to take the MD position as he is sure that VP wanted him to do it from the very beginning. VP is pleased and says yes to the offer. Both Yuvi and Arjun are crushed as they see their dreams going down the drain.
When Yuvi is crushed, he drinks and in his drunken state, starts to burn his certificates and tells that once again VP does not trust him. Krishna is sympathetic towards him. The next day, Krishna asks Durga Masi about Yash's business experience and she finds out that he does not have much so Krishna talks in favor of Yuvi and says that it should have been him to get the MD position. Masi says that Yash will learn. Maya wonders what Yuvi said to make Krishna favor him so much.
At the same time, Tara starts getting all the symptoms of being pregnant and everyone is happy that soon the house will be filled with babies.
