Bigg Boss 7: Andy is being victimised by Armaan Kohli, says UK-based brother Pravesh Kumar
Last week, Andy and Armaan Kohli who are part of Bigg Boss 7 had an offensive war of words. Although, the duo has patched up after host Salman Khan's intervention, Andy's Uk-based family, which was watching the show had got disturbed with some of the things Armaan said to Andy. A couple of days after the episode was aired, Andy's brother Pravesh Kumar spoke to us over the phone and vent out his feelings. Pravesh based in London, is the artistic director of a theatre company called Rifco, which he founded 13 years ago. His company develops and creates plays that celebrate the contemporary British Asian experience. Andy has been a core member of the creative team as choreographer and costume designer.
What was your reaction when Andy decided to be a part of Bigg Boss 7?
It's a little scary to be in the house for 90 days without any contact with the family. But Andy has always been flamboyant. Having watched Big Brother here, we know that it's a psychological game. So we were a little cautious and concerned because Andy has led a hard life.
Several contestants think that Andy is playing to the gallery. What is your take on that?
I don't agree. Andy is being himself. He is funny and at home he is our stand-up comic. He constantly makes us laugh. But I am concerned about the way he is being treated in the house especially the fight between him and Armaan. I know it's a game and if there isn't drama it doesn't work. But Armaan is being very aggressive. He is bullying Andy. What happened recently between them was very disturbing to us. My mother didn't watch the episode but if she had seen the way Andy was victimised and bullied, she would have been devastated. Armaan told Andy he will cut him into pieces, once they are out of the house. It was expressed in the fit of anger but using words like aurat, ugly, chakka (they were beeped) "are not acceptable.
But Andy was no less...
Yes, Andy retaliated. He also said something about Armaan's father which was bad. I want him to apologise. I am sure Andy must be feeling very apologetic. But Armaan called him names. Just because you are different does not mean that you do not deserve humanity and to be treated with respect. I know Andy is deeply hurt from the way he is being treated and he will wear a resistant smile, but he is no lesser a man than anyone else in that house. Some people can't see beyond his sexuality and make assumptions. However, I am glad that some inmates are supporting him.
Do you expect him to be among the finalists?
You don't know what will happen in the house from one moment to another. But I hope that people in India and UK are proud of him.
