Chapter-21(Part 1):
He banged the door of his car with such thud force alerting the whole of the mansion as he walked in quick purposeful strides, his eyes throwing daggers at particularly nothing, his stance possessed by mounting rage and his steps echoing in the wooden floor of the beach mansion.
As he entered into the hall-way, Anjali at once rushed towards him, almost running behind trying desperately to keep up with his fast steps.
"Arnav, please listen to me, Arnav I'm sorry-----"
He ignored her completely as he walked towards the staircase and she continued to run behind him. Frustrated with her voice calling out to him between such small intervals, as she acted oblivious to his ignorance, he stopped at once at the beginning of the stairs and turned around abruptly to catch his sister's hand just as she almost skipped a step and stumbled on her one foot.
"Di!! What are you doing?" He almost yelled making her stand still making Shyam rush towards the two of them.
"I'm sorry Arnav, I really didn't mean to----"
It was then that Arnav noticed her tortured face, her puffy eyes, tired stance even as Shyam was holding her by her shoulders and Arnav winced inwardly registering it all and he looked down in the next second releasing a deep convicted breath. "I just want you to take care of yourself Anjali, please stop thinking about me!" he spoke meeting her guilty eyes earnestly.
"I was just----"
"No!" he stressed yet again making sure not to yell. "Look at yourself Di, what are you doing? Why do you want to take my crap on your head?? You have a new life within you that needs your attention! Do we have to remind you all the time? It's high time you stop acting like a child yourself Di!"
She looked up at him sheepishly and took his one hand clasping it into her both hands. "Please don't go?"
He let out another exasperated sigh and stepped away withdrawing his hand from that of hers. "You don't understand! STOP.BOTHERING.ABOUT.ME! I stay, I go, I come, I don't come, just don't interfere okay?! Please, you just take care of yourself, yeah?"
"I will Arnav, but------"
"Listen, I'm doing all I can to talk in a civil way, please don't test my patience di, just------" he trailed off gazing at Shyam briefly before Shyam nodded and turned her gently to make her face him. "Okay, okay Relax, let's leave him alone okay?" Shyam talked much to Arnav's relief and he finally turned around, climbing up the stairs heading towards his room. It was not long before Shyam closely followed behind him and Arnav graoned.
"Oh god! Leave me alone would mean leaving- me-alone literally Jiju!" Arnav exclaimed at Shyam who was standing at his door just when he was about to close the door of his room. Shyam just looked on, as Arnav realized the determined gaze, he sighed and turned around leaving the door open.
"What do you think you are doing?" Shyam asked in his nonchalant voice looking at his brother-in-law as Arnav continued shuffling around his room dropping things into the suitcase that was open, vigorously in quick rapid movements.
"I've gotto go" Arnav stated not turning around, acting like he was completely attuned to the activity in hand.
"Every time you can't deal with something you don't have to run away Arnav!"
Running Away...Running Away...
The mere words irked him even more, and even as Shyam noticed him shrieking his eyes shut what seemed like trying to compose his agitation just like he expected , he folded his hands across his chest and waited for the much expected out-burst.
"I'm not running away Shyam!" Arnav snapped turning around instantly.
"No?"
"I was supposed to go much earlier, I stayed here for Diwali, and I can't stay any longer in this goddamn place! You get that?"
"You could, if you want to------"
"No dammit! I can't! I forgot a freaking business deal I was supposed to do last evening through a call, I forgot to attend the call Shyam!! Do you understand what it means? And Do you know how important the meeting was? It was the Dublin-Ireland project! You remember me mentioning the grand project we bagged last season? I FORGOT about that jiju! I forgot to charge my damn phone and I didn't even realize when it went off!!-------"
"Holy Shit!"
"--------and my asshole of a manager back in London, couldn't even keep an alternate number of mine! He calls up after waiting 12 f**king hours to finally drop me a message! Dublin-Ireland was such a long dew project Jiju! You know that!?"
"But how?"
"Exactly!!! How!!?? How the hell did it skip my mind? Just how!?" Arnav exclaimed truly frustrated more at himself. "And that's why I gotto go! This place is just ridiculous! I can't take this whatever nonsense happening here anymore! I just gotto go!"
"Okay, okay relax, did you get your tickets done?"
"Just a while ago, when that ass called to break the news----"
"------- but your phone?"
"I left it to charge in the car jiju! What? Do I look like you typical client now? Stop with your logical questionnaire and leave me alone please!"
Shyam sighed and turned around to leave, not quite expecting the sudden change of subject and he dint quite figure out what was it that irked Arnav the most. Was it the almost lost deal or was it finding himself indulged in something so much that for the first time ever Arnav Singh Raizada actually didn't have time to think about his business?
Shyam smirked as the thought crossed his mind and turned around to ask one last yet important question. "When is the flight?"
"3 am" Arnav answered continuing to shuffle through his clothes.
"Alright then, happy journey, make sure you aren't letting go of the damn deal"
Arnav turned around just in time to catch the glimpse of his door being closed behind a walking away Shyam. Surprised and relieved to be finally left alone, he dropped himself on his bed, burying his head into his hands as the voice that hadn't left his senses since the past few minutes continued to echo right into his ears.
It is best to hold on to a good memory and cherish it, rather than extend the time and ruin what one can have'
I really did have the best time of my life'
I had the best time Arnav...'
It is best to hold on to a good memory and cherish it, rather than extend the time and ruin what one can have'
Her voice shuffled inside his mind with those mere statements juggling, causing him to rub his hands vigorously in his hair in order to push them all away. When nothing worked, he got up swiftly onto his feet and looked around, his eyes turning red with a tangle of discrete emotions.
"f**k!" the curse escaped his mouth even as his one hand ruthlessly pushed the suitcase off the bed, making it fall onto the ground with a blasting sound. Ignoring it along with other panic screams that followed from his sister, he rushed down juggling his car keys between his fingers, his stance resembling that of man possessed by ruthless rage.
As he passed the hall-way downstairs, he barely noticed Shyam standing at the outer porch while he pressed opened the remote lock of his car, the sound of which echoing around and before he could even notice, Shyam opened the car door settling himself in the passenger seat, all too nonchalantly.
"What the-------- I said leave me alone! Do Jha people have any understanding problem of basic common English even?"
"I can give you the company which is as good as being left alone---" Shyam simply stated, as he leaned back onto the back rest of the seat, his eyes determined yet again, and when Arnav noticed Shyam extracting head-phones from his pocket, tugging them inside his ears, he let out another tired sigh and thought of better to ignore him altogether.

As he drove aimlessly and with right amount of speed along the never ending beach road, he noticed to his right-----the distantly familiar immovable objects which are basically the trees, plants and bushes fixed in the divider of the high-way along with the stores, shops and buildings standing at the other end of the road, everything running away from him, backwards and he smiled feeling content with the familiar moving on feeling settling inside his nerves.
He snapped a look to his left and took a moment of gratitude, observing Shyam who was true to his words, had been silently sitting along with him listening to his own music and staring out of the window. He then shifted his gaze above, to look out into the window, to his left, only to be met by the sight of the still sea water in the distant, that seemed like flowing despite being fixed in its place and it appeared to him like the flow of water was exactly in the direction that his vehicle moved.
In that lonely almost empty high-way, as he continued to drive along the same road, he found himself slowing down whilst shifting his gaze from this left to his right quite often. One side was a world moving away and the other side was a world that almost travelled along with him.
It is said that the waves are by default intertwined with the sea, but they always try to reach the shore totally in vain. Yet, they don't give up; each time the sea pulls them back into its depths, they become even more determined to reach the shore---yet every effort goes in vain'
"Damn!" he banged the steering wheel just as her voice, the dreamy expression with which she said it, the underlying bitterness in her eyes, those very hazels flashed back right into his vision. He expected Shyam to comment something, say something, so he could snap and get rid of this sudden rush of emotions, but Shyam remained nonchalant, staring out into the window at the sea even more attuned to it.
He found himself yet again looking between the sea and the road to his right, as her stupid philosophy continued to poke him and he closed his eyes, slowing down the car even more. He opened them back in a moment just in time to be met by the sight of a tall building and in a sudden flash of moment he almost thought he had seen a lean, white figure standing up at that terrace.
His legs hit the brakes instantly, causing the car to stop with a jerk movement even as his eyes double checked the building just to be sure it was his lame mind's imagination. He looked to his side at Shyam, who looked back at him questioningly yet not voicing anything.
"I think she lied, it had been nagging in my mind always, I'm not really sure, but I think------"
He said trailing off as his gaze involuntarily shifted to the tall building standing ahead of them to their right. Shyam followed his vision turning off the music from his iPod and straightened in his seat his eyes fixed on Arnav.
"About her falling?"
"You thought so too?"
"Uh, I don't know, what makes you think so?"
"I uh, never mind, will you drive back?" Arnav asked already turning away to get off from the driving seat.
Five minutes later, the Benz travelled in the opposite road of the highway its way back along the path it travelled and Arnav sat in the back of the car, to his right this time, as he lazily dragged his body down in the luxury seat, his eyes completely and only attuned to the sea, which now seemed like travelling back along with him.
