Don't you need some sense of self-awareness physically to be aware of and embracing your sexuality? That doesn't mean you need to flaunt it...but it shows in your body language...Saachi to me come across as quite a jhalli who is too busy running from one point to the next to even stop to breathe and take in a breath of fresh air...

Her emotions and desires are suppressed to such a point that she is completely unaware of them...but DV is waking those dormant desires slowly.

I do understand your basic point...and as I and others have repeatedly said in this thread...it is not unacceptable if two unattached people give in to their vulnerabilities...but then why are you asking if it's all so wrong in the context of these two characters? Obviously then everyone will reply within the context of these two characters only...giving the examples of this show and films otherwise...You can either make this a general debate on society specifically or the depiction in films/TV...

@ bold I do not think I have contradicted myself...I have clearly said that she is self aware...it is just that she does not flaunt herself...I would request you to take another look...as to giving specific instances, I find Saanchi's sensuality inherent in most of her physical gestures and expressions...it is part of her personality and not a coscious act...after all, some people's body language has an inherent sensuality to it...Sangeeta Ghosh is one person and that is automatically transferred to Saanchi...DV's attraction to her is as much a response to her subtle sensuality as to her goodness of heart...

My question was only in the context of the way Ulka reacted to the whole situation...I was merely reacting the the narrow-mindedness of a society determined to blow something fairly natural quite out of proportion...if you like, I was merely thinking aloud...

I am not looking for a debate here,...merely expressing my response to a particular sequence in the show, which kind of represents a larger real life situation...I was sharing my point of view...since the matter is purely subjective, I dont think a debate is even an option...each to his or her own opinion...

@sharadrocks: My bad...I misread...thanks for the clarification.

Ofcourse everyone is entitled to their opinion...if you were expressing yours, I was expressing mine...clearly if you posted an opinion in the forum in the form of a question, you can expect all sorts of opinions in response, correct?

I never said it was impossible...I said it was quite complex and likely beyond the scope of their abilities...but if you are so sure that it can be done in an aesthetic manner, please do give me some examples of actors or directors on Indian TV who've previously managed to showcase such emotion in a classy and aesthetic manner.

Re: Saachi...Sangeeta is the actress playing Saachi...her inherent sensuality cannot be projected onto the characterization of Saachi...they are two different people so again, I don't see where Saachi's body language specifically shows that level of physical awareness...I see Sangeeta and Saachi as different ppl.

Re: Ulka's narrow-mindedness...well ofcourse no one here condones it...but people like her exist in society too...who blow everything out of proportion and are nosy and judgmental about what's happening in other ppl's lives...she depicts a part of society too.

Personally, I don't think Saachi is aware of her sensuality or sexuality.
She has been so busy taking up her family responsibilities since her parents death that she hasn't had not even one moment for herself. Everything that she does or thinks is for her family and others well-being.
And she's not even 0.1% into DV. To her, he is almost like a kid. Although the recent incidents during the wedding has made him sound more mature in her eyes.
So i'd rather see the emotional level being developed between them instead of jumping into some physical relationship .
I think it would just mess up the whole thing if they were to have sex. If they were in a relationship already it would be different. But we sill have a long way to go before that happens.

The physicality of the actor automatically becomes a part of the character...that is what casting is all about...you pick a type that is closest to your mental image of a character...traits and all..this is my understanding...I am certainly not saying they are the same people...just that Saanchi inhabits Sangeeta's body...and as such, Sangeeta's physical traits become a part of her..

As for opinion, of course everyone can express an opinion...but this discussion seems to me to be going on a tangent...my intention was not to debate over whether Saanchi can or cannot do something...all I said was that society ( Ulka and people like her) can be a little more broadminded and compassionate and less judgmental when it comes to situations such as this...and also wondered aloud if the show would tread such ground...not that it should or that it would...merely whether it would given the current state of Indian TV..

Like Soapbubble pointed out in her earlier post, Indian TV has been much more bold and open in the past when it comes to discussions on so called taboo topics...things unfortunately have gone backward with the passage of time!

I think I have made my point...nothing more to add...thank you for all your inputs..!

P.S - As for giving instances, I only said that it is possible,,,not that it has or has not been done...so, I dont think citing examples is a requirement at this point...

Thanks for the feedback...I have already given my interpretation of Saachi's character,,,and her sensuality or lack of it..

I did not advocate jumping into bed...I only said that, given the circumstances, it would not be such a big deal if it even happened...I was merely wondering why people could not be a little less uptight over such out of the box relationships...this was not even an observation about the show...more a lament on the intolerance in society, if you like!

The sequence of events in a relationship are not always under our control...but since this is Indian TV fiction, I guess the writers will not jump the gun...or try to go the unconventional route.. I am noit saying they should or they would...only that it would not be a crime if they did!
