I always thought it was the top 10 contemporaries that are A-listers

A listers are the ones whom other A listers want to work with. Like Preity was an A lister once with other A list heroes/directors/producers vying to work with her. But for her comeback film she couldnt find a decent hero/director/producer. Which means she is B grade now.

^ b grade? She's like no grade now! 😆 Hell, in school B grade was good for me. 😆 Other than that, I buy Mrs. M's explanation; it all depends who's hot in the market and who's cold. A listers are the actors and actresses who make their directors wait in line, not the other way around. They're the ones that are offered roles, their value is determined through their film's revenues, endorsements, and publicity.

A-Listers are like Box Office rulers right? So Kareena, Katrina, Priyanka, Deepika, Vidya and three Khans, Big B, Akshay, Ajay, Ranbir etc. The media generally labels these bigshots as A-listers.

IMO I would add Emraan, Saif, Sonakshi to this list, coz they're doing/have done good work, and many of their films should've been big hits yet they were not. i.e. Lootera.
