I think Saif has been considered an A-lister since Dil Chahta Hai. I think so at least.

Maybe Shahid was taken under Kareena's wings, but we're talking of fans here.

I remember back in 2007, post Kareena-Shahid breakup, things were pretty ugly then in terms of Kareena-Shahid fanwars, so I wouldn't know whether Kareena fans took Shahid under their wings when they initially started dating.

I can vouch for Saif though, majority of Kareena fans put Saif on a pedestal only after he dated her otherwise I doubt they cared for his filmography when he was churning out critically acclaimed stuff- Being Cyrus and the like.

To answer your question, Kareena became an A-Lister post JWM success. Saif's never been an A-Lister but has risen the ranks ever since his transformation after Hum Saath Saath Hain/DCH.
