She stood outside the khan mansion, silently gazing at the door which was open. She was emotionless, lifeless. She was shocked! She was numb! She couldn't feel her own tears as they rolled down her cheeks. Just when she thought she would get her life back, her happiness back, her Asad back, destiny decided to play yet another cruel game with her. Maybe destiny had started taking a sudden fascination with her, with her misery. She simply stood there, looking at the love of her life... no correction, her life becoming someone else's, she stood there as she witnessed her Asad becoming someone else's, she stood there as she looked at Asad saying qubool hai! If only it was to her and not that woman who had destroyed her, the woman who had made it her life's mission to destroy her life. He had reassured her over and over again that it was just a matter of seven days, seven excruciatingly long days that never seemed to end. He had asked her to be patient for these seven days. He'd promised her he would make everything alright. He'd promised her he would come to claim her back. She walked away not wanting to witness anything more. She was drained, she was tired. She wanted to sleep, in her mother's lap. But that was impossible, she wanted someone to be with her, she didn't want to be alone. All her fears of being alone came crushing back to her, hitting her like a lightning bolt. She walked dazedly, where? even she had no idea. She just wanted to be away, to be far, far away from all this anguish, from all this hurt.
"Why asad why? You said you'd wait for me! You said you'd wait for me." She cried out loud to no one in particular. She just wanted to sleep, on her mother's lap and maybe she'd do just that!
