Pakistani superstar Meera had huge plans of extending her stardom to Bollywood. Unfortunately, her high profile debut in Nazar, produced by Mahesh Bhatt, was a dud and it followed by the disastrous Kasak where she was seen alongside singer-actor Lucky Ali. But Meera is not one to give up. Now her hopes are pinned on Simran opposite Aryan Vaid, who was recently seen rocking in the Bigg Boss house.
We caught up with her at Panchgani where she was shooting a romantic song for the film with hero Aryan. As she dances to the tunes of 'Tu hi laila, tu hi majnu, main kahungi tuhje shaam. Ram naam jape koi, main japungi tera naam...' we see renewed enthusiasm in her.
Q: Tell us something about the scene you are shooting now.
A: This is a romantic song soon after my marriage in the film. It actually is a dream sequence. I don't know if it can relate to reality, as it's a complete dream song. Sherya Ghoshal and Udit Narayan sang it. In fact, the music is really nice. It is very entertaining and romantic.
Q: What is the story of Simran all about?
A: The story of the movie is very beautiful. It's a crucial subject and a woman-oriented film. When the director narrated me the story, I was very much excited to play the title role. This role energized me because the role is very simple and pretty. The story really touched my heart. Simran is a Manglik. Personally, I don't believe in the stars. But the whole story revolves around this crucial factor. I was bowled over by the concept. Now this film is very important for me.
Q: Is the story based on the life of Aishwarya Rai?
A: I personally don't know Ash. And I can't comment or say anything in that regard. I think you should ask the director and the producer. They can tell you correctly. It is their idea and thought. However, I can say that it is very simple and nice film.
Q: How does it feel to shoot in a beautiful locale like Panchgani?
A: For the first time, I have come to Panchgani. Of course, it is a beautiful and a very romantic place. When I was in Pakistan, I used to see these locations on screen. Now to practically shoot over here is like having a ball of a time.
Q: Are you comfortable shooting in India? How are your co-stars?
A: They were very nice to me and were very supportive and encouraging. Most importantly, they respected me. That's why I am very glad. Whomsoever I work with, the chemistry is really good. If you and your co-stars are good friends, chemistry always comes out well. This time it is no different..
Q: Your previous films have not done well on the box office. Many have dubbed you as a flop actress. Any regrets?
A: Actors are never flop. My work is to keep working. Public acceptance is required for a movie to be a hit. Now I just want to work. I have nothing to do with hits and flops. Even Kareena Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan's initial movies did not do well. Now I am only looking forward to the release of Simran as the shooting is almost over.
