Yes, it would not be wise at all to compare the both shows. Just because both are set against a historical backdrop doesn't mean they belong to the same genre as well. After all, one is based on the historical account of a great warrior king and another is a fictitious love story of a great mughal emperor.
Btw, I don't think Akbar's entry in that show would in anyway manage to sideline MP. After all he is the main protagonist of the show.
i also hope that no comparisons r discussed, it should be completely left on viewer's choice if they want more of history or more of fictitious romance..or maybe both..after watching today's episode i was more interested in watching jalal's larger than life frame as compared to MP..it made me wonder if akbar's persona might overshadow the protagonist mp!
