Ranbir Kapoor, who celebrates his birthday today, is reportedly set to play the challenging role of Lord Shiva in an upcoming film.
The actor is said to be chosen by Karan Johar Ayan Mukerji to play Shiva in the movie adaptation of the best-selling novel Immortals of Meluha'.
Mid-Day reports that Johar bought the rights of the story from author Amish Tripathi. Mukjerji is keen to direct the film and has already started working on adapting the book into a screenplay.
Both Shahid Kapoor and Aamir Khan were favourites to bag the role but the decision was made to give it to Ranbir instead.
The film goes on the floors early next year.
