I agree with Ranbir...A movie will not do good until its actually loved by the audience...The promotions may help on the first day and first week but that's all...but I do believe that Shahrukh's marketing helped the movie to make that 100 cr so fast and also it got more acceptance in the South.

if we talk about the business, then srk and his business definitely works. he uses his brain, and make money from everything possible😆 related to movie. but yep, the promotions, dont help on BO in a way, as in overall, but on first day..they do matter. Ra1 got a bumper opening too bcz of this only.

LOL...whether the promotions work or not work is debatable...but logic says that its the movies connection with the audience that makes it work...not necessarily the CONTENT...which movie can have a better content than Swades...but it didn't do good because most of the audience didn't connect with it... I know one this that promoting movies are never going to be out of fashion...previously all the promotions were done before the movie actually landed in the theaters ...but now SRK has started the new trend of promoting the movie even when its running...wait for other to follow suit...😆

Of course it was needed...You don't write off a superstar and his 20 years of consistent career because his movies are not making 200 cr at BO...the reason was that he was not doing the kind of movies that make that kind of money...well they challenged him and he showed them who the Boss is and beat them at their own game...Now that he has reminded everyone of his star power ...I hope he goes back to doing good cinema...we need more CDIs and Swadess from him...if even it means less money at BO...Actually he can do a mix of quality cinema with commercial cinema..

The film was a no brainer. It didn't have any vulgarity. The story was very simple and the songs were preppy. Then it had two big names SRK and Deepika.
