Perfectionist Abhi says, 'Nahin!'

Abhishek
Move over Aamir Khan, there's a new perfectionist in town. He goes by the name, Abhishek Bachchan.

The actor, who is currently shooting for Goldie Behl's Drona in Bikaner (Rajasthan), is so determined to make his superhero character shine that he's left no stone unturned in looking perfect.

So much so, that he's been the source of major headaches for the unit's costume and jewellery designers.

Facing rejection

Since he plays a superhero in Drona, one of Abhishek's key accessories is a bracelet of magical proportions and a source of his power.

Needless to say, the actor wanted to make sure the bracelet was worthy of his wrist. After several sketches and re-sketches, he finally approved a design for the bracelet.

Says a source from the film's unit, "This bracelet is crucial to the film's story, so Abhishek kept rejecting one design after another.

He wasn't happy with what he was seeing at all. Finally, he approved one design and the jewellery designer dashed off to get several sets ready in time for the next schedule.

Abhishek has taken a keen interest in every aspect of his role. He is hands-on about everything he is wearing in the film. In fact, his clothes and accessories were designed only after he approved them."

But it seems the designer's troubles with Bachchan Junior didn't end there. Sources report that when the bracelet was finally sent to him during the shooting schedule in Prague, he refused to wear it.

Schedule off course

The bracelet designed for the film has been made in three different sizes to coincide with Abhishek's transition from a small boy to a grown-up man.

"Before getting the bracelets made, the designs were approved by Abhishek. But then, when the bracelets were sent to him in Prague, he refused to wear it even though he'd okayed the design.

Needless to say, there was a lot of chaos and the designer got some more heartburn for the pieces," says the source.

A source working with the design team confirms, "Yes, Abhishek did have issues with the bracelet being designed for him. In fact, he even gave the clothes' designers major grief.

It's not like he was being difficult. He just wanted to make sure that everything was perfect. After all, a lot of money and reputation is riding on the film.

But that doesn't take away from the fact that his perfectionist streak did put the film's shooting schedules completely off course."

We tried to get in touch with producer Shrishti Arya, but she was unavailable for comment.

See people,I told ya,Drona would be different from Krrish and something on the lines of Mr.India where Anil wears a magical watch....I was right😃

Hope Abhi gets his look right in this film...😆

Abhishek Bachchan's magical bracelet that gives him supernatural powers in his upcoming film ' Drona' has become a point of controversy between him and his costume and jewellery designers. The actor is so obsessed with his looks in the film that he rejected the designs approved by himself in the Prague spell of the film. As a source explains, ' The bracelet is crucial to the film's story, so Abhishek kept rejecting one design after another. Before getting the bracelets made, the designs were approved by Abhishek. But then, when the bracelets were sent to him in Prague, he refused to wear it even though he had okayed the design. Needless to say, there was a lot of chaos and the designer got some more heartburn for the pieces.'

Actually, the designer had to made the bracelet in three different sizes to suit the Abhishk's character, which starts as a child and then grows through teenage and finally to adulthood. And in all the three stages, he will have to wear the bracelet for the shooting. This insistence on changing the bracelet every time threw the shooting schedule off the track and everything had to be arranged afresh. Abhishek's perfectionist streak emanates from the fact that he don't want to leave any stone unturned in giving a befitting reply to Hrithik Roshan's super hero image of ' Krrish' and ' Dhoom -2'.

Though the film is being produced by Shrishti Arya and directed by Goldie Behl, the grapevine has it that the finances are being arranged by Bachchans themselves. This is being done to ensure that no department of filmmaking suffers due to paucity of funds. Bachchans are so concerned about Hrithik walking with all the praise in ' Dhoom-2' that Big B is himself taking personal interest in this film.

Even Abhishek is so concerned about the film that he approves the designs of his clothes and accessories in film himself and only after that anything gets finalized. It may be recalled that in ' Dhoom-2' Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai had got all the praise for their looks while Abhishek Bachchan's look was said to be only passable. Even the director Sanjay Gadhvi's comment about Abhishek had hurt Bachchans. Now, Aamir Khan has a competitor in Abhishek for the title of Mr Perfectionist!

glad to knw tht Abhi is being lazy with drona as he was with Dhoom 2....besides ppl's expectations frm him have also risen post Guru.

saying tht, I don't quite agree with the article drawing comparisons of Abhi's attitude towards work with Aamir's. How can u compare some1 whining over their clothes or bracelet to Aamir Khan who actually pays close attention to his look, his acting, his diction and the FILM AS A WHOLE. The kind of preparation Aamir puts into any role of his is unmatchable ....it'll be a long time before Aamir can be 'moved over'!

I unabashedly confess...I LOVE fantasy films and comic book drama😆 ...

WOW,a magic bracelet...Sounds too interesting..I'm sure the Indian audience would lap upto this film....Escapist cinema at its best 😃 ..I wouldnt be surprised if Drona is the Dhoom 2 of 2007 😉 ,both kitschy and juvenile flicks, which would work big time thanks to audiences like me 😃

😉😆...You're glad that ABhi is lazy😆

I agree,NO other actor would be putting in as much effort Aamir puts in...Even Hrithik slogs, but only for HIS role...Aamir on the other hand works for the entire film, and is particular even about other's roles

As someone said, the look doesnt look too impressive..long hair, thick beard et al🤢...But maybe it would look good when the film is seen,I mean,I felt even hrithik looked bad at IIFA 2005 with the long hair and all,but he didnt look that bad in Krrish..So maybe,ABhi too wouldnt end up looking ugly...

ooopppps sorry for the typo...I meant, I'm glad is NOT being lazy abt Drona as he was with D2.

U r rite.....Hrithik slogs as well, but he slogs only for his role while AAmir thinks of the 'whole' film----Even Farhan Akthar said tht this is where the difference lies b/w Aamir and Hrithik in KWK season 1.

Arrghhhh...don't remind me of Hrithik long hair---he looked like a girl in it...and during IIFA, it looked like a bird's nest to me!

First we had to endure Hrithik with long hair and now Abhi!

And Drona does sound a lot like Mr India now....but wht makes me feel this film won't work is the director!
