Listen Ash is a looker alright. But when it comes to great acting, she is not even in the league of a Kajol, Juhi, Madhuri or even an Karishma. These actresses where dominant in the 90s, ofcourse there are the legends like Sridevi, Rekha, and many others. When Ash won film fare for Devdas, I was like whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. I have yet to see a beauty queen give a tremendous performance, both ash, sush and even priyanka acting are sub par.
Indian awards show will never reach the same level as an Oscar, because of all the bias and ridiculous favouritism. Even the Oscars are supposed to be biased based on which movie or person is able to generate the bigger marketting campaign or generate the greater publicity. If the Oscars are considered unfair, I see the Indian awards show as total waste of time and just garbage.
What really ticks me off about the film fares, is lack of nominations they give Tamil, Malayalam or other South Indian movies. Are you kidding me, we have some of the best actresses or actors in South India. Ash getting an nomination for Dhoom 2, is an insult to these awards, what did she do other than strip down and share a smooch with Hrithik. I am sorry for being so harsh, but what Ash did in Dhoom2 does not even come close to what I consider acting. Look at Jyothika in Mozhi, she might not be a skinny heroine, but her acting skills are in another universe compared to some of the Hindi heroines. Jyothika should win a filmfare for best actress.
I understand how the market works. Hindi film industry has the bigger revenues, more publicity, more international attention, more of everything. But the awards show should look at all of India, we are the most multiculturally diverse country in the world, and we should recognize all the great talent, forget the language, forget the state, but look at acting alone. I feel Film fares should completely be cancelled, India should establish a more national awards show that has the best actress and actors from all the states and various languages.
