This, after a tight-lipped silence on both ends.
At a press conference to promote a film ironically entitled Besharam Ranbir has said, "Katrina is a very special part of my life".
That seems like a strange place to acknowledge one's love. Specially since Ranbir also went on to say that he didn't want his personal life to become a reality-show.
Odd, because that's exactly what the "true confession" seems like...a reduction of a very personal statement into a public outpouring. How is Ranbir's sudden honesty any different from Veena Malik cuddling up to Ashmit Patel in Bigg Boss or Anita Advani weeping over her dead relationship with Rajesh Khanna on the same show?
But then stars are known to favour public platforms to make the most personal confessions about their lives. It is their way of letting their fans know that they are all said and done, human beings with genuine human feelings.
The question now on everyone's lips is, are the two "committed" individuals all set to tie the knot?
No matter what the hype machine says, the answer is a no.
There is absolutely no chance of Ranbir and Katrina getting married in the near future. Friends of the couple deny any plans of carrying the relationship to the next level.
Says a mutual friend, "Ranbir is certainly not interested in committing himself fully in a relationship. Commitment-phobia runs through the family. Ranbir's mom Neetu Singh had to wait for a good 7-8 years before his dad Rishi agreed to marry her. Katrina comes from broken home. Her father left his wife and children when Katrina was just a child. She looks for that permanence in her life that her mother never found. Ranbir is not ready to provide that permanence. That is where the relationship is stuck."
One hopes that Katrina who is as faithful and committed in her relationship as possible would get the happiness that she deserves.
She has always told her close friends that the day she finds someone she wants to settle down with she would leave her career behind.
