Veer was cycling around uday's home, he was waiting for a perfect opportunity to finish HIS dad. His mom was blinded by her love, but he needed to punish uday for the crimes he did. He had come to know that uday was alone at home and arthi had left him. Thank god!! He needed not bother about the witness now. It was when he noticed uday drive away from his home.

"umm, where is he going. I better follow him." thought veer. He parked his cycle some 50 feet from where uday had stopped. " I am not old enough to drink, but no one would doubt if I went through, as I look older than my age " thought veer. He quickly checked his bag and saw that his knife and a vial of poison were there intact. One can't be too careless , he thought

Veer entered the bar, the smell of alcohol hovered in the air and he felt nauseated, but then he needed to concentrate on his goal. He spotted uday sitting alone and joined him. uday at first did not notice his presence, he continued to drink more. His eyes were blood red, like he was drinking hours before he came here. Uday looked very sick, like he was about to pass out

Veer could not help himself from feeling sorry for his father, no , it was just a feeling of compassion for a fellow human, he corrected himself.

V: sir

Uday did not hear what he was saying, so veer asked a bit louder

V: SIR?

Uday looked at veer, his eyebrows raised ,uday: yes?

V: don't you think you should stop? It seems you can't take any more alcohol in your body

U: who are you to bother? Who cares for me? No one cares for me

Said a very sad uday. He poured the contents of the bottle in his glass fully and drank it in one gulp without adding any water or soda in it.

V: careful sir, (feeling concerned)

U: you caale me(care for me)(uday's speech was slurred ) if only my family caaled(cared) for me. I am so alone, no one wants to live with me any longer.

V: what happened? If you don't mind you can share it with me, it could give you relief. (suggested veer)

Veer wanted to get uday talking so that he could slip that vial of poison in his drink. It was like veer had a dual personality, one part of him was concerned about his father while the other half was urging him to finish his job

"maybe I should allow him to talk a bit , something like a last speech before your death" though veer.

V: sir, say whatever is troubling you, it would give you relief if you share it with someone

U: you all right (you are right). I am not a good man (how correct, thought veer), but why do these ladies need to break my heart. What have I done?

V: ladies? Maybe you should start saying about each of them, I mean, if there are more than one...

Uday did not notice what veer was saying or his slip of tongue..

U: there were a lot of girls who I loved (he winks at veer) you know what I mean.(uday smiles like a fool) in my college days. But there was one girl, just one girl who held my attention.(uday had a dreamy look on his face)

She was so innocent, so cute, just like the brightest day, like the softest snow flake, like the sweetest fruit, like the most fragrant flower, I loved her at the first sight, she smelled of sandalwood, and for years sandalwood was my favorite fragrance. She had this strange sense of dressing and I used to make fun of her behind her back. can you believe she wore long and loose salwars in college. I thought it was just an attraction, but I was wrong

Veer interrupted uday and asked: what was her name?

U: she... her name was Manyta... my princess...

Veer gritted his teeth and fisted his hands at the mere mention of his mother's name by his father, no, his creator . a mistake of his mother, his hands tightened over the bag that harboured his knife, stab him and leave, thought veer, but he could not, the look on his father's face was something he never saw before, it was pure love, he was genuinely fond of his mother and that made him loosen his grip over bag, a small doubt began to grow in veer's mind" did his father really love his mother?" and it was this doubt that saved uday at that moment.

Uday continued: she was from kerala, and had this accented speech, her English and hindi was not perfect.there were a lot of things that was absent in her. Maybe it was that imperfection that attracted me towards her, all the girls of her college were bothered about their dressing, their talks, they wanted to be perfect and sophisticated. But my princess was unique . she stood apart from others. I wanted her to be mine, only mine.

I fought with my mind, trying to convince myself that it was just a huge crush, but mu mind wanted more, but I was scared about how my friends would react, if I told them how the great udayveer singh had fallen in love, it hurt my ego, so I kept quiet, to them I was just following a girl to be with, to share the night.

I never bothered to correct them, but one rainy day, it happened between us (uday gave veer a meaningfull look)

Veer thought "am I going to know the way how I was born", he felt disgusted

Flashback

It was their first time together, manyta's sneezing had woken up uday, he thought she was janet and susan and told her to shut up

Manyta got really irritated and poured the glass of water kept on the bedside on his face. Uday got up, highly irritated : "What the hell , Manyata?"

M : so you remember my name, do you?

U : um!! Why should I NOT remember, come here baby, I want u some more!

M : Who's Janet and Susan?

U : what?!

M : I think u heard me ALREADY.

U : oh they are the girls whom I was last with, baby! (he added frankly)

M : what!!! So you WERE cheating me, with your sweet talks.

U : oh, baby , just understand this. I just got what I wanted. You were this village girl, totally innocent and cute, just minus your oily hair and your cheap taste of clothes. It was something I did not try yet, so I came behind you, started to seduce you and last night I got what I wanted,(smirking) in between , you were so good, not bad for a virgin. (winks). I better get going now.

Manyta broke down, she was in tearsshe stayed there like a staue, too shocked to move

After sometime, somebody entered her room, she was too engrossed in her her own thoughts to check who it was. A bunch of flowers appeared in front of her, she did not look, suddenly her face was cupped and she was forced to look at the person in front of her. He wiped her tears with his thumbs

M: leave me uday, you cheat

U: princess...

M: I said leave me alone...

U; listen to me once, manyta then I would leave, you know I was just testing you. I wanted to make you jealous, I wanted to see how you would react if I said those words to you, it was my test, I never meant to hurt you. I was broken when I said those words to you, however I needed to make sure you were not one of those girls who would be looking for one night stands , I want a steady relation..

M:( still crying) so I am not a cheap girl?

U: no you are not, you are a gem, you are mine. Iam so sorry for putting you through all this

Saying this he hugged her, she hugged him back..

Flashback ends

Uday continued his talk to veer: I cheated her, I really cheated her, I meant those words when I said that I wanted her as a night stand, I told her earlier, after leaving her room, a new feeling washed through me, it was guilt, it was so strong. I never felt like that before, I knew I needed to apolpgise to her, so I brought her flowers and told her that what I said was a lie, she forgave me, and I was happy. Then for the next 3 months I was happy, I was in love, I had my life...

V: dad!! You scared me. Tell me what happened next

Uday did not notice that veer had called him dad.

U: I neeed a drink. Uday takes another glass and gulps it down.

Veer kept asking uday, tell me, what happened next

U: she went from my life, it was when arthi came in

V: what happened to mom, I mean manyta, tell me

Uday did not continue what he was saying about manyta, he continued his talk about arthi

U: she was an angel, a goddess, my wife!! My mother of 2 kids!! My better half. My best friend. She left me. I am alone here in this world now.

Veer understood uday would not say anything else about manyta.

U: my arthi, I promised her I would give up my old ways for her, she was my... my life.. my heartbeat... I loved her and I tried to remain faithful to her, but I am a human, and humans do make mistakes

Uday again gulped another peg of alcohol, he was visibly swaying now

Uday finally lost conscious, he never completed what he was saying about maya... veer tried to wake him, but uday had passed out for the night
