In ancient years it was not wrong to practice Niyog. Thus in Mahabharat too Niyog was practiced by Ved Vyas. The suggestion given by Bheeshma... This was considered in favor of Dharma, and Satyavati calls upon Ved Vyas who was her first child. Thus Satyavati's wish was fulfilled that her child's offspring was to rule the throne...

Rules of Niyog :

  1. The woman would agree for this only for the sake of rightfully having a child and not for pleasure.
  2. The appointed man would do this for Dharma, considering it as his duty to help the woman bear a child and not for pleasure.
  3. The child thus born would be considered the child of the husband-wife and not that of the appointed man.
  4. The appointed man would not seek any paternal relationship or attachment to this child in the future.
  5. To avoid misuse, a man was allowed a maximum of three times in his lifetime to be appointed in such a way.
  6. The act will be seen as that of Dharma and while doing so, the man and the wife will have only Dharma in their mind and not passion nor lust. The man will do it as a help to the woman in the name of God, whereas the woman will accept it only to bear the child for herself and her husband.

Somethings are beyond explanation, and beyond a normal Human Being imaginations...The answer of your question is that May be or May be not...

Whatever it is but I do not feel wrong it if the rules are strictly followed and if there is agreement of all the parties with purity of thoughts...ie Husband, Wife, the third Man, the in laws, the other familes etc...

But there is always a but...We Human beings who are full of selfishness, shrewdness, shamefullness, hypocrits...cannot and should not practice such inhuman, unsocial act...For us this is full of impurity and ends with societal shame...

That is why there is difference in the Yugs and laws of the same...We are in Kalyug and we are all mixture of good and evil...Not even a single person whosoever is in this Yug can call himself Good as Evil will follow them...

Now comming to the point of Niyog, this was practice done in earlier Yugs and the Dharm was made in earlier yug with a viewpoint that people will follow all the rules and will do something as per Dharma...and for these things Rishi munis were there who used to do this job...As this can be practiced without passion by Yogis not by Bhogis...

People will laugh at it and will say what yogis or bhogis got to do with passion... But this is true who performs perfect yog is free of desires and thus mere passion does not come into existence...Nowdays no Yogis are born only Bhogis exist...😊

If he didn't have passion, he would be pretty incapable for the job he's been appointed. 😛

In a different form. It is called Artificial Insemination.

Though some people like Ass-aram Bapu try to keep the tradition alive, you may find you may find yourself on the wrong end of the law.

Those rules prevailed because at that time no testube baby, artificial insemination did not prevail...thus this was the only way for motherhood...

Now, obviously Ambika and Ambalika could see Veda Vyasa, hence the former closed her eyes and the latter went pale.

Well, if passion has to be reduced, then the chances of success are very slim indeed. Why even bother going through it?
