Rehaan Khan is the winner of Fame X
Piyush Roy
AN infectious smile and a versatile voice apart, it hadn't been an easy ride to the title for 23-year-old Mumbai boy, Rehaan Khan, declared the Fame X winner yesterday. Khan, who was in the danger zone for the first time, beat fellow finalists Anandrupa Bagchi and Neethy Nair to win a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh, a recording contract with Sony BMG and will feature as MTV's artist of the month.
His father Rizwan Khan, a sitarist, had to let go of his musical callings for a career in the construction business, but son Rehaan is sure to make his mark in music.

What do you plan to do with the Rs 50 lakh cash prize?
I will be buying a new home for my family and we will shift from Mira Road to Andheri.
What do you think was your X factor?
My confidence and my smile.
Which was your turning point in the show?
My saddest and turning moment in the show was when judge Nikhil Chinnapa, who was representing MTV, called my expressions wooden and compared me to a sofa. I was very touched by the way our dean Palash Sen had contested that remark, though in hindsight, I think that the remark pushed me to put my best foot forward.
Will you be in touch with any of your housemates?
Of course. I would like to make a five-member boy band with my fellow contestants Banjo, Ashutosh, Rakesh and Aditya Jassi.
Your favourite singer and song?
Sukhwinder Singh and the song Man ki lagan from Paap.
Any genre of music you would like to make a mark in?
Though I can sing all kinds of songs, Sufi music is what touches me the most.
