Pallavi Kulkarni, the gentle, well behaved bahu in Vaidehi, is allegedly a very difficult colleague to work with. The unit members of the serial swear by her unprofessional, rude behaviour. Sharad Kelkar and Kanchi Kaul's airs and nakras are insufferable. A step worse is Pratichee Mishra who plays Saloni's loving mother in Saat Phere — Saloni Ka Safar. Apart from her unit members, even her husband recently went public criticisng her unbearable, dominating nature. In the same league are Kirti Kelkar (in Saloni… and Sindoor) and Nandini Singh (of Kesar).

Ironically, Aman Verma, Manoj Bohra, Urvashi Dholakia and Anchal Dwivedi who are famous for their wicked, negative portrayals are thorough professionals and it's a pleasure to work with them. "It all depends on a person's individual personality. Appearances are deceitful, as we all know. An actor might look very easy going and friendly and can also play such a character with ease but wouldn't necessarily be so in real life. Therefore the on-screen and off screen image of a person differs so much," explains veteran TV personality Nalini Singh.

Producer Sunjay Wadhwa has a tough time handling three such difficult people (Partichee Mishra, Sharad and Kirti Kelkar) on the sets of Saat Phere. The friendly looking Manish Goel and recently Amit Behl (who plays a kind and considerate father in Mamta) were thrown out of his serial Paraya Dhan because of similar issues. "Yes Sharad and Keerti are sometimes late. I feel that throwing tantrums is a human nature, sometimes it's because of work pressure," he says.

Justifying himself, Sharad says, "I do get late sometimes but actually it's the production house that is to blame. They take extra time and I am doing two shows at the same time." So does this mean it's the production house that has to make adjustments? .

Maverick productions recently showed Imran Khan in Kulvaadhu the door because of his unreasonable demands. Rekha Vaid, vice president Maverick says, "Because of actors throwing tantrums, things heat up a lot and it is very difficult to manage them sometimes."

We have to maintain the decorum on the sets but sometimes their attitude is due to stress and excess work. So we have to consider. Of course, it should be within a limit and should not harm the project. We try to solve such problems through communication but if that doesn't work then replacement is an option. Imran Khan was a nice person but non-cooperative. Hence we had no other choice."

While some stars make things difficult, there are others who make it a lot easier. Our wicked on screen vamp Aanchal Dwivedi is very easy going in real life. "In the beginning I had problems waking up early in the morning, but slowly realized, after a few shouts and screams, that I have to be professional," she says. Aman Verma, Urvashi Dholkia and Manoj Bohra think similarly — come what may, don't throw tantrums at your place of work. And that's their strong point.
