Parental love is a strange thing. It can achieve wonders, it can also smother you to death. Her obsessive love for her son, and her pathological guilt over her affection for Jalal is what makes her so complicated. She fells almost guilty for her affection for Jalal, hence her constant need to prove herself to her son. Human mind is complicated.
And yes, it is only Jalal that I feel sorry for. He has the worst luck in all this. He has so much love, so much affection to give, but nobody wants it. Everyone wants his power, but nobody wants his love.
