St. Valentine's Day is round the corner, and most of us here would agree that the day signifies much more than mushy cards or jewellery or parties or marketing gimmicks. It is also a day for sharing and caring, for telling ANYONE we love that they matter to us.
So I chose this occasion to talk about my friends here. Remember Lashy's hickory dickory dock thread? It started in the last week of April, and just a few days later we got the news that JJKN was ending, turning it into a sort of farewell thread.
Much water has flown under the bridge since then. JJKN really has ended, something that I never thought would actually happen. Some people have left this forum for good, some are missing, some put in guest appearances while others are sticking around like gallant soldiers. Our equations have also changed: some of us have grown apart, some have grown closer.
In this thread, I request you all to describe the new friendships you have made over the past year in this forum; which people you came to know; which you came to know better than before; and, if you like, you may mention those whom you wish you had known.😛
N.B. Please mention only those members you know on a personal basis, because we generally start putting in more and more names just to be polite. 😉We ALL are part of the JJKN family, but some people are closer then others, and this post is specifically for them.
So let me start off :
A year ago, my friends on JJKN forum were Neelam di, and indiainspires (whom I really miss). Neelam di has always been like a mother figure with her sensible advice which never gets preachy. Indiainspires was like a soul sister as far as MandA were concerned. We exchanged a few PMs, but when JJKN ended, she disappeared into the blue. Now I feel guilty for not replying to her PMs in time.😭
Sid was someone I admired from a distance and when she finally PMed me, I lost no time in getting back. We exchanged some information about ourselves but due to her hectic schedule and traveling, we couldn't keep it up. I miss her and her uproarious commentaries!!😃
Since then, I have gained many more friends: Hansa di, with whom I became acquainted when we were lobbying for the reruns, and who very generously offered to send me a copy of a book I was longing to read, all the way from the UK 😳; Meenu di aka chatterbox, who was supposed to be preparing a surprise for me, aided and abetted by Prachi, which somehow never materialized; and Madhu di aka Dimdim, who is a Mumbaiya tapori at heart though she might be carrying herself admirably in her country of residence.😉👏
Another of my DIs, who seems to have disappeared is Jassi didi aka Jassi suri aka onlyjassi. We wuld share interesting ideas about JandA and MandA, and there was quiet but very palpable respect between us.....sadly, before i could know her better, she got busy busy in her own concerns and could not visit much again, except briefly during JDJ. 😭
Such aka fan no.1 and I used to exchange wistful PMs when Mona was bashed or when MandA seemed hopeless; Hema was a natural soul sister and when the Apu bashing upset her, Such and I would persuade her not to quit; Vidhya aka Tina always seemed like an ally but we came closer in the last few months, and discuss everything from politics to child-rearing practices.😆
Lashy deserves a big🤗 for starting that Hickory Dickory post, for it brought me a whole crop of pals through uncanny connections. First Tiki PMed me after I mentioned her in that thread; our common love for books brought us closer. Through her, I came to know that marvelous sprite-in-a-child's-body named Priya. Needless to day, Priyu taught me to be besharam without feeling guilty about it…but she also taught me much more which I can't put into words.😳
Through Tiki, again, I came to know Anu, and through Anu I connected with Tanny. Both these Bong Bombshells are the best of friends, and yet they are poles apart in temperament. Opposites DO attract!! 😉
Momo took the initiative in striking up our acquaintance, and since then another common tie has brought us together--JLH, although i don't watch that show anymore nor did i visit the forum much. But her balanced comments and the siggys she makes ensure that we stay connected!
Another Priya that I struck up friendship with is 3322, who used to send me some excellent suggestions for my updates, and was passionate about getting the reruns re-started in India. She is a bit busy these days because of her studies, but I hope she will be back soon, active as ever.😊
Ana aka hippi2go was another one whom I admired and so I finally got in touch with her a few months ago. She seems right after my heart in that she is career-minded and passionate about many things, although it is subdued passion and not blatant like mine! Why don't I see her around more often?😭
How can I forget Moni, the incorrigible shaitan? 😆 Our friendship started out funnily enough: she PMed me a VERY hilarious morphed pic which she warned me not to use in my avi or siggy, or she would be banned for life.😉 The next thing I know, that very pic is her avatar!😕😆 Next we bantered about Akash, whom she regarded as the prefect match for Mona, until the latter's sisterly concern shot down her hopes. 😈
WE really are connected in some uncanny way. The biggest proof of this came a few days after JJKN ended. I received a PM (ok, I think she'll kill me for this but I think I can mention her here) from a member who said she loved my posts on a certain topic. That gesture touched my heart that was sore from the loss of my favourite show. We exchanged Pms, then went on to Yahoo messenger and to conversations that lasted into the wee hours of the night. IF has brought me yet another soul sister.
Who says love is NOT everything??😳😳😳
