Maan and geet was still sitting just like the way yet there was a lot of difference. When they had come they were sharing a nameless relationship yet now their relationship had a name

Maan watched geet from the corner of his eyes. Geet was silent and her silence was bothering Maan a lot. He liked his childish, bubbly and prank star geet. He gathered courage and tried speaking,

" geet , I am..."

Geet promptly turned back and placed her fingers on his lips stating softly, " hush Maan... Don't taint this moment with words. I love this serenity of this moment."

Well destiny does plays her way out. Geet should have let Maan speak that moment...she never knew her little interruption to his words of heart would cost her soo much...

Maan watched geet looking at the sea.

" what are you thinking geet?"

" this moment is the most beautiful moment of my life Maan. I will never ever forget this day ever..."

" oh!! Geetu. I promise I will gift you many such beautiful days...it will be just like a fairy tale..."

" I am a simple girl Maan. I don't have a dream of fairy tales. I never had. I just want a normal life with you where we face everything together."

Maan was used to people making him try and solve problems for them. This was the first time someone wanted to share his problems instead of his fortunes.

Geet smiled and a strange peace filled his insides. He forwarded his hand and asked," geetu we need to get going...it's almost time."

" I don't feel like going back."

" why geetu?"

" you will become stupid Maan Singh khurana again. I miss my Maan whenever I am there."

She looked like a kid pouting asking for her favourite candy. Maan gave her a bear hug saying," geet I can't change who I am. It will always be a part of me. I will always be Maan Singh khurana. But I promise here right now that I will never stop being Maan. I will never let that Maan get lost in midst of the crude realities of life."

Geet was overwhelmed with his open confession. It was no less than saying the three magical words " I love you."

Geet thought hopefully," for now I can live with this Maan. "

Maan literally pulled her up holding her hands. " This is one of the best days of my life as well geet. But I need you to promise me something."

" what Maan?"

" no one, absolutely no one should now the real relationship between us. I can't afford a media hype now geet. Too many things are at stake here and I can't loose any one of them. Promise me geet, no one, not even dev should know this truth."

" but he will ask me about the outcome of our meeting."

" feed him any cock and bull story geet but not the truth. I have reasons geet but this is very important."

" you have my word Maan. No one will know. But it also means we can't meet." She pouted.

Maan did not like how her face fell. He cupped her face and pecked on her fore head lingering there a bit.

" oh!! My sweet geetu!! Who said we won't meet. Whole college roams on Friday and Saturday but they are too tired by Sunday evening and then Monday college starts as well. So we will be meeting on Sundays. But remember in front of others we are as good as strangers."

A mischievous glint shone in Geet's eyes as she kept her hands on maan's and said " I promise Maan. Not a soul will know the truth of our relationship."

Maan held her softly. She always gave him this warm feeling of happiness and contentment. He pulled her closer and placed a peck on her forehead. Geet wrapped her hands around his waist and whispered softly," promise me Maan, you will never ever leave me alone. You will always be there for me."

" I will unless it's good for you to stay away from me."

" can you grant me one wish?"

" I am not a god geet to grant you wishes."

" oh!! Just let me be the judge of the fact if you are good or bad for me."

Maan smiled. His geet can never let go without a fight. She was fiery yet she had the softest heart.

" come on. We are already late."

They got into his car and drove back to their college. It was a short drive of about 20 minutes with less traffic. Maan dropped geet at her hostel gate and left. Geet sneaked in with some serious help from pinky and meera.

Once they were done with their lectures finally meera asked," so geet, did anything fruitful happen?"

Geet wanted to share her happiness of maan's acceptance or their date or maybe their kiss at the beach...meera had grown to be a sweet friend over the months. But she could not break her promise to Maan.

She put a serious face and stated," he does not love me meera."

She sounded as much cold as possible." I have decided not to run behind him anymore. I will forget him. I beg of you, don't ever remind me of him in any form."

She lied down on her bed hiding herself with the sheet to pretending the heart broken girl. In reality she was just trying to escape their piercing questions which she cannot answer.

Meera and pinky were stunned but they thought to give geet sometime. They also decided to prevent others from asking questions. They cannot hurt an already heartbroken girl.

Same time dev and samaira were returning back. They had a quiet dinner and had just been seating together watching the sea from the window of the khurana beach house. It was a serene place outskirt of the town. Away from noise and pollution it is a place which brings us nearer to our true self.

Dev had his fears. It is never easy to love someone who resents you. Still gathering courage he asked," are you mad at me Sam?"

" for loving me so much?"

Dev was silent.

" how can I be mad at you for being the friend I always wished for and showering me with love I always craved for but..."

" but what?"

" i have loved Maan for a long time dev, maybe as long as you had loved me. I don't know how to not love him."

Dev watched on. Sam was not looking like the college queen or would be Mrs Maan Singh khurana. She was looking like a kid who had lost her way is overwhelmed by the crowd.

" oh! Sam," and he pulled her into a hug. First time in many years she went into his arms unflinchingly. It was almost like she found home.

" don't think so much sam. I would never hold anything against you. But dear we can try being the old friends right?"

Sam just nodded her head.

" I am glad sam. I missed you."

" oh really?"

" you don't believe me?"

" so...what took you so long? Couldn't you have come earlier? You should have tried harder dev khanna. Or were you waiting for that geet to pop up so you could be noble enough to help her out by saving her."

Dev sounded the resentment in Sam's voice. These both have a long way to go.

" don't hate geet so much sam. Once you know her closely you can never be mad at her."

" the most we can be is civil to each other. I am not a saint dev. I cannot forgive someone who took away my first love. This pain is too much."

" by hating her you are only increasing your pain sam. Maan bhaiya had never been yours. "

" can we not discuss this. It's painful."

" fine sam. we won't talk about it. But remember it's always wiser to let go what's not ours."

" stop being my spiritual guru dev.

" a true friend never flatters sam. it was in our tenth...remember Julius Ceaser??"

"God dev!! Only you can bring Shakespearian tragedy in a perfectly normal conversation... Who made you an engineer...you should have been a poet or a writer dev?"

" and you should have been a criminal lawyer."

" am not joking dev. The dev I knew was a dreamer. He cannot be someone who can master the JAVA, C,C++ languages. You were the lover of some different language dev."

" Sam...it was past."

" no it isn't. I have seen you surfing through the few fictions the college library stores...you have that look of yearning dev."

" so you do notice me miss Roy?"

" stop trying to change the topic. I know you well to not be fooled dev. I need the answer that has been haunting me for the past whole year."

" well Sam, all of us had been sacrificing something or other in the altar called high society and family business. I had my share of broken dreams as well... just like you am another sacrificial lamb...life is never a fairy tale and I know it now. A son doing engineering from a good college followed by an MBA abroad sounds lot cooler than a son doing bachelor of literature. Khanna industries might not be as mighty as the Khurana's or as old as the roy's but they have their own share of pride. "

" oh!! Dev you are...you never let on anything...I almost thought you were happy..."

" why do you think I understand Maan bhaiya so much? I am sailing on the same boat."

Samaira was quiet. The environment grew thicker as the dim light of setting sun flooded the room. Dev continued in a monotonous voice," Every one of us have our fair share of pain sam. some brood like Maan bhaiya, some were a mask of insensitiveness like you and some smile and cover it up like me. You think geet has no pain because she is smiling and you are jealous of her. And I want to protect her like a true elder brother because I don't want her ever to wear a fake smile and pretend everything is fine."

Sam nodded her head a little and said," I understand you dev. But I can never forgive her. She took away the only dream I ever had."

Dev sighed. It is not easy to let go and he knows it better than anybody else in the world. He just said," come on sam. Time to go back. I hope we still will be friends when we reach the campus."

Sam stared at him and said in a soft voice," I guess I have lost my love already dev. I can't loose my friend too."

Dev held her by her shoulder guiding her towards the exit. They still had a long way to go but they had taken the first step towards it.
