What I still don't understand or get is that why couldn't Jodha's family gifted ruqu something else but what they gave?

I mean had they gifted her clothes, toys or even jewellery Jodha and her brothers won't be in this terrible mess they are in right now.

In life one give gifts people they have known for a very long time foods not someone u r just getting to know.
