I don't think any rural woman would break out of her existing bondage circumstances with the illusion that if she runs away from home, she will find accommodation at a haveli somewhere and find a benefactor like Jagya while running away from an abusive husband and land a job at a hospital when she has no training.
Even the rural women know that this is just a fanciful la-la land tale. šš
We should not insult their intelligence. All rural women have a sense of their reality and options open to them.
They would only do so if they found a catholic priest or nun who gave them some type of assurance about a Christian hostel or a rehabilitation mission.
There are news stories all the time about young boys and girls running away from home (mostly from small towns and villages) after watching films and having unrealistic expectations like becoming a film star.
If commercial cinema can have this effect on its audience, then surely a serial like BV that is projected to be realistic, is capable of influencing impressionable minds of unprivileged girls.
Phooli and Gulli were realistically shown to be rehabilitated. The woman who was branded a witch was also rescued properly and sent away respectably. The Singhs are partial to Ganga as the CVs want to project Ganga as a lead - which could have been done in a better way.
In the past few months, BV has strayed quite far from the social message spreading realistic show that it was and is presently hovering close to Ekta Kapoor territory.
