Friends:
I have been spending almost all of this weekend trying to decipher this "mystery of the miscarriage". At the end of my deliberations I have reached some conclusions and I thought I'd share them to see how many of you may agree or disagree with me.
I feel somewhat very certain that the poison administrered to Ruqu was not in the kesar or even in the milk brought by Maham. I in fact think the poison was in that "zimzim" drink given to Ruqu after she had a bath and was dressing up for the jashn.
The reason I say this is:
a. There was no need for that scene/shot at all if you think of it. They could merely have shown Ruqu getting dressed and ready, but why did they deliberately show that she was asked to drink something called zimzim at that moment, administered by a baandhi? I feel that there must be some reason for that one shot, as it was otherwise totally redundant! Unless it had some purpose why show that shot?
b. A lot of us are looking at the Friday episode and seeing this fight between Maham and Adham and assuming that Maham may have been very moved by Adham's rantings about losing his status and ambitions to Jalal and now also Jalal's waaris. We are all so affected by this Adam-Maham talks that we naturally assume that this talk must have propelled Maham to poison the milk in the kesar dudh, or some such thing. But if you look carefully, on the Thursday episode itself we have that scene where the eunuch tells Maham that Ruru was gloating over getting the title of Marium Uz Zamani and then becoming higher in status than Maham. At that point itself Maham tells herself, "Any other begum getting that title is OK, but Ruqu should never get it. She was the eye-witness to the Adam-Moti saga and I have kept her silent on this issue for now. But if Ruqu gets a position higher than me, she will definitely spill the beans on Adam and my son's life will be in danger". So as we can all see, much before Adam came back from Mathura and added his own rantings to his mother, Maham already had every strong motive on her own to see to it that Ruqu does nout have this waaris and then get the title! I therefore feel that Maham must have plannted this baandhi to give that zimzim to Ruqu. It was probably done well before Adam even returned to the jashn from Mathura!
Now here's one more prediction I want to make:
I feel strongly that Ruqu, when she has the miscarriage, will blame Jodha and the kesar dudh, and even Maham may fuel this theory of Jodha being a suspect.
BUT ... here's the big but ... I feel Jalal will totally take Jodha's side. Everyone knows that the kesar was tested as soon as the brothers of Jodha arrived. It was tested out in the open before everybody. The milk for the dudh came not from Jodha but Mahamanga. Further Jodha was not at all interested in feeding that kesar dudh to Ruqaiaya, she was merely giving the gift of the kesar. It was Jalal's idea to ask Jodha to give that kesar-mixed milk to Ruqu and it was also Jalal's idea to ask Jodha to use that small spoon (which was in Jalal's personal possession). Also Jalal knows that Jodha has no motive to create Ruqu's miscarriage as she herself does not want to become a waaris-carrying wife of Jalal when she is not even ready to sleep with Jalal ... and in fact she is not even ready to lie that she is pregnant with Jalal's child to Hamida. If Jodha wanted the waaris and title, she could well have agreed to the pretense of being pregnant in front of Hamida, isn't it? Jalal knows that Jodha wanted nothing of all this at all, in fact she actively resisted against having all this.
Will it ever be proved what caused the miscarriage? I am not sure if the creative will ever show that - or if they have a mind to they may create some talks between Maham-Adam that reveal the truth. We don't even know if we will have a situation where Jalal is pissed off with Ruqu blaming her for the negligence over the loss of the baby perhaps, but we will have active defense of Jodha by Jalal against Ruqu's accusations of Jodha.
Ok, these are just my thoughts after a whole weekend of chewing my brains out! What do you all think?
