Madhu traced her fingers around the carving of the stone, trying to determine what material it was. The cut and feel indicated a diamond but even for a man of Rishabh's status, gifting a diamond this big would be next to impossible.

She tried one last time in hopes of finding what she'd missed the first time. The pattern sitting right underneath her ring finger reminded her of petals, the perfect imperfections of Fibonacci- numbered leaves hanging from their shoots, connecting all the other flowers in the vicinity. Ten, twenty, thirty of them in a bunch, gathered around a smooth surface. As she ran her palm across the cold stone, the friction made a screeching sound, something reminiscent of her sighted days. It was a mirror she was holding up.

Then, before her anger got the best of her, she placed the mirror right back in the hands of the message bearer. Holding back tears, she responded as calmly as a betrayed person could, "Mr. Patel, kindly tell your chief not to play cruel jokes on the blind. I may act as though I am one of you so that you don't feel my discomfort, but that does not make me normal. I am aware of my inhibitions, he doesn't need to remind me. Tell him I won't be needing such insensitive gifts, or any gifts from him. You may leave".
