Whu Did Akbar not Read or Write??

Very few know that Akbar-The Great suffered from dyslexia. Though the great emperor was gifted with an intelligent brain, he could not read or write, more so he could not understand letters and numbers. It is said that when Akbar was in Kabul in 1551 to do his education, he pleaded with his teacher to discontinue his education because he just could not read or write, no matter how much he tried. If you see Akbars clueless reaction in the movie Jodhaa Akbar where Jodhaa asks him to read what she had written for him, you can well understand his condition. But in those days, no one knew what dyslexia was. Akbar may have been called an illiterate, but it was not so, he just had a reading disorder.

That's interesting, but what I've heard is that Akbar being the Shensha had to train & practice for war & politics, he did not have enough time to read and write, this was also mentioned in the Jodha Akbar movie.

no dear its not like tht being emperor he couldnt able to study... his father n grand father was very highly educated n both were emperor n warriors.. shanshah babur succeeded his father throne at mere age of 11. it was his loyal friends, guardians n teachers who supported him in that young age... he was very fond of reading and writing .. wrote his autobiography Tuzk e babri by himself..
