In a recent interview with India Today, Shah Rukh Khan confirmed that he has said yes to playing a Gujarati don in Rahul Dholakia's next yet untitled directorial venture.
After being asked about what's next for him after Chennai Express, SRK is quoted as saying, "An MRI on August 19 (because of his recent shoulder surgery). Then Farah's (Farah Khan) Happy New Year in Dubai and Goa. Then Rahul Dholakia's film."
Rahul Dholakia has directed Parzania (2005) and Lamhaa (2009) before this. News reports also suggest that Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani (of Excel Entertainment) might co-produce the movie with SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment, the movie will be extensively shot in Gujarat, and SRK will be playing a big-hearted don from the region in it. This is considered a completely new experience for SRK in terms of Gujarati settings, culture, and language.
And that is not all. In another recent interview with Indian Express, SRK confirmed that he is also in talks with many other directors, including Anurag Kashyap, Ashutosh Gowariker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Vishal Bhardwaj, and Manish Sharma among others.
About working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, SRK is quoted as saying, "Yes, Sanjay has two subjects and one really fantastic big thing."
Could the "fantastic big thing" SRK is pointing to be Bajirao Mastani for which Bhansali has been wanting to sign SRK and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan since long? We can only cross our fingers and hope.
One thing is for sure, many of Bollywood's top most directors are lining up to sign the Baadshah for their upcoming movies!
