Death! Death is a part of life, inevitable. But for Abhay, it wasnt. He knew he had to save Pia and he would. After a long time, or probably the first time in his vampire life, he had felt the need, the urge to save someone, who was a mere human. Pia lay in his bed, unconscious, fighting for her life with bruises all over her body. Abhay stared at her face. Her face looked so calm, so serene, so peaceful like she was away from all the worldly sorrows, like they never existed for her.

Abhay sat next to her and took her hand in his. The bruises looked bad. He had to heal them. He leaned towards her face and placed a soft kiss right at bruise on her forehead. He moved towards her cheek only to realize that the big cut which was present a moment ago, healed automatically. His eyes turned wide. He looked at her arms, her neck; the bruises had started healing all by themselves. How? How was that possible? She was just a human and humans could never heal at such a rate. Something was amiss. Who was she? Or rather, what was she?

Abhay was confused. He knew one thing for sure that no human being could recover from such terrible wounds so early, so easily. A few moments passed by and he realized that all her bruises were now healed. Even her pulse was now normal. This was not possible. Was she really human? Or was she someone like them, a supernatural? No! She had to be human. He could feel her blood flowing in her veins, he could hear her thumping heart. She was definitely human in all ways, yet she was different from others. How? He knew Pia was in danger, was this one of the reason? He had to find out about her but right now, the main issue in hand was, why wasnt she waking up?

As if she heard his plea, she opened her eyes slowly. She felt pain in her whole body. She felt tired. She looked around and suddenly she realized, she wasnt in her house. Wait! Where was she? This place looked familiar. A memory flashed in front on her eyes. She remembered what had happened earlier. She was horrified and then she saw Abhay, looking at her intently.

What are you doing here? Pia asked.

M house, my room and (he paused for a moment) my bed Abhay smirked.

PERV. How the hell did I get here? Wait! You, you kidnapped me right? How dare you? she accused. Abhay rolled his eyes, Naah! Kidnapping is not my style and anyways, I have better things to do than kidnapping a non existing, good for nothing, irritating, irrational human chit of a girl

What am I doing here? she asked

Oh I played a handsome prince who saved an ugly duckling from being throttled to death. he shrugged

You know what blood sucker? I thought I would give you a benefit of doubt for once in my life but I guess you arent worth it and I am asking you for the first and last time, who kidnapped me?

I dont know who kidnapped you but I know one thing, if you dont shut your mouth next instant, you will surely regret me saving you

Abhay smirked, if your interrogation is over, I would suggest that you close your mouth and go to sleep again.

Pia went still for a moment at his words but she continued to argue, Do what you want, but I am leaving

Abhay shrugged, Ms. Rathod, you are too weak so instead of pulling a stunt, it would be beneficial if you just lie down quietly on the bed without giving me non- existent migraines

Pia ignored him and tried to get up, but she felt weak. As soon as she placed a foot on the floor, she wobbled and fell flat on the bed. She looked at Abhay who gave her I-told-you look. But Pia didnt give up. She got down from his bed with support. She had just taken two shaking steps when she found herself floating in air.

Abhay shook his head. Pia was one stubborn girl he had ever come across. She never gave up, did she? He saw Pia getting down from the bed with the support. He knew what he had to do. He immediately scooped her in his arms.

What the hell are you doing? Put me down Pia struggled in his arms but Abhay didnt leave her. He rolled his eyes, stop fighting, will you? You are not going anywhere. Lie down quietly and do no not force me to tie your hand and legs

Pia didnt fight after this. She let Abhay place gently on the bed. He tucked her in. Abhay smirked, good! Now do not try to move. I will send your dinner

Abhay left her alone. Pia sighed. What was he? One moment he would hurt her like she was his biggest enemy and the very next moment, he would save her. He was taking care of her like he owned her. She remembered all those times when Abhay had not only hurt her, but also saved her.

Yes I am the same stupid blind jerk you collided with. But you see, I am not really that blind, and as a proof of that, I have made this gift for you. Hope you like it. And then he had gifted her, her nude portrait. And then she had insulted him in front of college. Then, there was their first almost kiss when he had insulted her

But along with insults he had also saved her. The fire! She was in somewhat similar situation like she is today. And she had feared that someone had taken her advantage. She chuckled as she remembered that incident.

Where Am I? How did I land in this strange house and this strange bed? Who brought me here? Was it a boy or a girl? Why was she without clothes in a strangers house? And this shirt, she dare not move it a bit, but this shirt looked like a boys shirt! Her terror increased ten fold as an even worse thought crossed her mind, Did the boy who brought her here, took advantage of her?

Her fears were broken by a familiar cold menacing voice, Whats the fun in ravishing a girl, if she does not even know it? No... thats not Abhay Raichands style!! So no, I did not even touch you, ermm.. that is apart from lifting you from that fire and bringing you here. So, you can relax on that count for now. We can wait for some other opportunity for making your dreams come true.

Suddenly Pia realized, no matter how much he insulted her, he cared for her and this was proved by that prank call. He had come running to save her.

Why the hell did you call me here? If you like me touching you so much, and were so desperate for a one night stand with me, then you could have just asked me instead of resorting to such cheap measures to call me in private on pretext of saving you?

The angry tone in Abhays voice and expressions would have scared anyone, but not Pia, who shouted back at him in equal anger, Stop making such idiotic lies. Why would I call you to save my life? I would prefer dying rather then having a one night stand with You. Its you who need excuses to come near me. And if someone did play a prank upon you about me being in danger, because it cannot be anything other than a prank if indeed someone did call you; then tell me why on Earth did you come rushing here to save me? You claim to hate me, right? My closeness repulse you and I hold no attraction for you, right? That is what you keep throwing in my face, isnt it? Then why rush here pretending to save me? Tell me Abhay?

And then there was this picnic where she was almost about to slip of the cliff and yet again it was Abhay who had saved her but not before hurling another set of insults.

Woah! Once a despo, always a despo. Instead of being generous enough to say a thank you to me, you are lusting over me, ha? Anyhow, you are not welcome at all, Miss Pia Rathod. What were you thinking while walking on the edge? That you are some kind of a superwoman who would balance herself and will not trip? Tch tch, Pia. Some people will always be naive

Abhay Raichand! He was an epitome. She smiled. She couldnt deny anymore. No matter how much he insults her, how much he yells at her, he may call her despo for all she cared, but she had realized one thing, Abhay wasnt that bad.

These words echoed in her ears. Today when he had said these words to her, her heart had skipped a beat and she knew, deep down somewhere in her heart, she had started feeling something for him. With a content smile on her lips, she drifted into sleep.

Pia opened her eyes after a peaceful sleep. She stretched herself and yawned rubbing her eyes. Suddenly she realized where she was. She was about to get out of the bed when the door of the room swung open, morning duckling. Running away, are we?

Pia sighed. She closed her eyes and rested her head against his chest. Abhay Raichand was impossible!!

As the sun rays pierced through the space present between curtains, a girl with curly hair frowned in her deep sleep because of the sun rays falling on her beautiful face!! Pia turned to the other side of bed lazily. All of sudden her digital clock began to rang loudly, Pia felt frustrated at the sudden noise. She angrily put her hand on the clock kept at side table and the ringing stopped at once. She opened her eyes sleepily and her eyes fell on the clock which showed exactly 7 am. Pia jumped of her bed as she remembered she needed to attend college today!! She has taken enough leaves from college but now that she is totally fit and fine, so no more bunks!

Pia went to washroom to freshen up; she wore a pair of chocolate fibred shorts covering her legs up to her thighs and vegetable fibre spaghetti top. She came down to dining table and sat down. Mr. Gomes came hurriedly with her breakfast and asked her how she was feeling now. Pia smiled, oh I am totally fit and fine!! Mr. Gomes asked again if she wanted to go to college again as she had a near death-escape just a few days ago, but Pia assured that she was ok and went on to say that she cannot take any more leaves since she had already missed too many lectures. She finished quickly her breakfast and ran out, muttering to herself, "gosh! I need to take all the home tasks I have missed."
