@ Sara..please don't keep the original Ruq Begum in mind when you watch this now...you are only going to be mighty disappointed...what we watch on TV is not what would have happened in history...but that would simply NOT make for interesting viewing...please set the two aside...this is just a fictional story...

Serials/docu-dramas true to history never have interesting-enough love stories...and those that have interesting-enough love stories are rarely true to history...(and like it or not, the recent spike in TRPs are a testament to this!!!!)

Now back to Ruqs - I guess what irks most of us about Ruqaiyya's character is not that she's proud to consider him her husband...its that she keeps rubbing others the wrong way about it...

It almost seems like she possesses Jalal and one fails to see any selfless love amidst all of these emotions...to date I have not seen her do one act purely out of love/admiration/respect for her husband...

on the contrary, even though he's supposedly cruel; he seems to regard her friendship far more than she does...for her it seems all like a means to keep her power high up in the harem...the fact that Jalal would never ever say 'NO' to any of her demands...the fact that she is the LADY NO.1 in the palace...obviously she respects the Mughal aristocratic rules etc since she's been born and brought up in those surroundings, but other than that THE SERIAL RUQAIYYA seems like an extremely selfish, cruel power-hungry woman who cares about none but herself!!!

After yesterday's episode, I don't think Ruqaiya cares a dime about Shehenshah. For her, complete control over harem is more important, and she knows she gets to have full supremacy through her's n Jalal's friendship and long association.
