Chapter 8
Khushi sprinted out of the house but slowed down as she her husband, dressed in a black suit with a crisp, white shirt and a black tie, waiting for her in the SUV. Khushi hesitantly got in the car.
She was about to reach for the belt when she felt him lean down towards her. His face was right next to her neck, and for some reason her heart was pounding in her chest so loud that he could probably hear it and not only that, she also had butterflies in her stomach, however, she blamed it on the nervousness because of the interview. She saw his hand reach out for the belt and pull it across her chest on the seat. She sighed, so this is what he was gonna do.
"You know, I could've done it myself" Khushi said as he finished putting the belt on. All this time she had shrunk back in her seat to put as much distance between them as she could.
"I...I just assumed you..." Arnav just started when he was interrupted.
"You thought that I didn't have money so I wouldn't know how to put on a seat belt" Khushi finished in total determination. She didn't want to hear anything right now that would lower her spirits right before her interview so she just cut in and blasted him first.
"I didn't mean that, I...uh, forget it!" Arnav gritted out, he didn't know that she would take him wrong but he was too infuriated the way she talked to him to clear any misunderstanding. He started off the car at a high speed and zoomed through the busy streets with Khushi all the while looking at men and women leaving their houses after bidding their good byes to their families for another hectic day of work, their were also energetic children walking off to another day of school. This is what gave Khushi energy, this is what she would see every day she went to work or university and seeing everyone face their problems and getting on with their daily lives gave energy to Khushi to face her problems and get on with her life, after all she wasn't the only one who was like this.
She felt the car halt suddenly, Khushi looked out of the window to see a tall, glass building in front of them.
"LNS Architects, you had done your work experience here so it will be better to first try here as they know you and your credibility" Arnav explained seeing the confusion on Khushi's face though his eyes were still at the road ahead.
"...And inform me or Akash if this goes successfully, there won't be any need to go to the other interviews" Arnav finished, his eyes still on the road and his shades still on his eyes. Khushi got down the car, gently and turned around to face Arnav, "By the way, thanks for lining up the interviews. I know you didn't mean it any wrong way" Khushi said with a genuine smile which represented her contentment at this gesture.
Arnav's face was first turned up in shock, then it was scrunched in confusion as to how she found that out? Did Nani tell her...? No, no, she wouldn't do that, he trusted Nani and was sure the she wouldn't reveal her Grandson's secret.
"I might have been shocked...but I'm not deaf" It was Khushi's time to explain as she saw the confusion on Arnav's face. With a small smile Khushi shut the door and walked away.
Hmmm...so not only was she eduacted, she had sharp senses as well.
Arnav looked at her retreating back once before he drove off to his office.

Khushi walked out of the building nearly an hour later with a big smile on her face. Her interview had gone really well and Arnav was right, it was a good decision to start off with a known company rather than any random unknown company. She had gotten the job of the head designer after she had excelled the interview with her well designed and well explained sketches and she would be starting her job from tomorrow because they needed her urgently. She was really excited. Khushi stopped outside the building as she was brought out of her excited thoughts by a thought that entered her brain totally unexpectedly. Arnavji had asked her to message Akashji or him about the interview so they could decide whether to cancel the others or not and another thought of thanking him entered her brain. After all, he was the one who cared enough to arrange imterviews for her...Wait! Cared?! Khushi's brain stopped right there before a single word flashed erupting into another million questions. Why? Why did he do it? Did he care? Why did he care? Weren't they practically forced into this marriage so then why is he caring now after making her sleep on the couch, after insulting her, after not caring for her then. Why? However, brushing all those thoughts aside Khushi took out her phone and without thinking more she called Arnav.

Arnav was in his cabin, going over some project files and in a corner of his mind, he was still stuck in the morning incident. That's when his cell phone started ringing indicating a call. Arnav's eyebrows went up when he read the name 'Khushi' flashing over the screen. Sliding his thumb over the screen, he received the call.
"Hello" Went Arnav's curt greeting.
"Ummm...I just called to inform you that, I got the job" Arnav was a little surprised to hear that. Not that he was doubting her capability but it was just her tone, but then again, it wasn't like they were in the best terms.
"Oh, okay, I'll ask Aman to cancel the rest of the interviews" Arnav was about to cut the call when she spoke again.
"Wait!"
"Yeah?" Arnav asked as he curiously put the phone over his ear again.
"Umm...Thankyou for helping me" Khushi hesitantly thanked him. He deserved at least this much.
Arnav was at loss of words. Whenever any of his emplyees or bussiness associated had said that he would just nod in acknowledgement and whenever his Di had said that he had told her not to say it as he would do anything for her and she didn't have to thank him. Now, Khushi didn't come under any of these two so he wasn't sure of what to say so he just spoke up the first thing in his mind.
"Hmm...but well, I just lined up the interviews, it was you who had to work to get the job" Feeling extremely weird at what he just said, Arnav vut the call immediately after a hurried bye and informing her that the driver would come and pick her up in five minutes. I mean, he had never said anything like that to anyone other than his family, that too only Akash when they had started out their bussiness. Feeling a little happy for Khushi and how she thanked him, his lips unknowingly lifted up from the edges. He wasn't really expecting a 'thankyou' from her, in the start he didn't even know that she was aware of him doing that for her but later he didn't think she was actually gonna say a prominent 'thankyou' for a little thing that anyone could have done, even she could have arranged the interviews herself. But oh well, sighing, Arnav got back to work once again and made a mental note to get the details of her job later.
