Chapter 22
Uday woke up, when sunlight forced him to open his eyes. Lazily he opened his eyes to find the curtains drawn aside and the window opened. He turned to the other side to wake up manyta, but lo, she was not there. Her side of the bed was kept neat and clean. His eyes went to the bedside stand, and there was a cup of tea waiting for him. The whole room looked neat. Maybe a maid would have done that, he thought. Even manyta's clothes were kept in proper order, there was no chance she would have done that, he did not however know how wrong he was.
Uday finished his bath and went downstairs for his breakfast, everybody was already at the table except manyta and his ma, where did she go? Thought uday. He took his seat. Soon manyta entered with a bowl of gulab jamun and placed it on the table, um, very good , its my favorite, and then seeing manyta is she acting like a dutiful daughter in law helping ma in bringing food from the kitchen. Hope ma finds some fault with her and scold her, I would be so pleased.
Giriraj asked: ah!! Gulab jamun!! What's so special today
Avantika replied: its manyta's first day na, so it is not a special occasion?
G: I know, I know. I was just playing the fool
Uday hurriedly finished his oatmeal and started to take the julab gamums.
One, two , three... ten, eleven, the gulab jamuns were fast disappearing.
Unnathi who saw this told uday: dada, do leave some for us.
U: chotthi, you know how I love these. And today's jamuns are the best I ever tasted in my whole life, ma, you make the best jamun's in the whole world
A: uday, it wasn't me who made these julab jamuns. It was manyta . she made it as her part of all the post marital rituals.
Uday almost chocked : what!!!!!! i.. mean(as all were staring at him) the jamuns are too sweet for my taste. And he made a face of disgust.
Unnathi asked: excuse dada, but I thought that you just said it was the best in the world. She would not allow her dada to make a nasty comment about her bhabhis cooking.
Uday was so red: i i Unnathi are you trying to rag me?
Un: ya, what would you do?
Both of them just glared at each other.
Giriraj and avantika just look at each other, they knew what their son was thinking. He was too proud to agree that he liked manytas cooking.
Unnathi just laughed, uday hesitatingly looked at manyata, she was not looking at him, why did he just say he liked the jamuns? Maybe I should have complained, but why should I complain about something so perfect? How long is this going to continue? She can never be the love of his life. Maybe I should try to find my dream girl.
Manyta could not help feeling delighted to hear that uday liked her cooking. It was her first try at cooking and it had come out so well. Everyone tasted her cooking and complimented her . it was great to be with uncle and aunty and unnathi as a part of their family. Wasnt this her greatest dream till date, but then she looked at uday and the nature of her thoughts changed how long could both of them continue to act like this? Was this the life she had dreamed about? A life where you just love to kill each other? Would she ever have love in her life??? God help me. She prayed.
Giriraj finally asked uday and manyta: so tell us, where did you both plan to go for your honeymoon
U and M: what!!!!
G: your honeymoon dear. He said calmly
U: well dad, I have an important meeting , so I just cant go now, so maybe, so
G: enough of all these sos, even if you dont want to go, manyta would want to go, isnt it manyta beta?
Manyta was too shocked, she wanted to go with uday for HONEYMOON!!!! Yuck!!!! The idea was too bad even to think!!
M: uncle, I think as uday is busy now, maybe we could go later, I could even concentrate on my business now, we could take a break after some months, now maybe
G: see avantika, just like what I said! I knew both of them would be too interested in their business than their honeymoon!! Can anyone believe that??
A: so kids, we had already planned a honeymoon for you. So both of you can just pack and leave tomorrow evening itself, I would have done it today itself, but you need to visit devgarh today
Both manyta and uday started to protest, but then both of them were silenced, they never stood a chance. Giriraj and avantika was adamant.
Everybody left the dinning table and only manveer was left behind.manveer stared at each other for a long time on silence, it was clear that both of them did not like this idea at all, it was manyta who broke the silence
M:uday , I know what sort of a relation we share, so please do something to stop this.
U: I am thinking of coming up with something but I dont know, my parents are adamant.
M: we could think of ways to stop this
U: maybe you should fall from the step and break your leg, then we dont need to go.
M: eh!!! You could use that for yourself, you fall down, I dont want to be the person who gets hurt, besides you have a lot of experience being bed ridded
Uday gritted his teeth as he heard what manyta had spoken, he wanted to strangle her, he was getting really mad, but manyta was saved as avantika walked into the room at that moment.
A: enough!! Would you just stop plotting things to get this honeymoon cancelled. Listen uday and manyta, both of you are my children, I know things are not good between you both, but just remember you are now bonded by sacred matrimony. The wounds inflicted on the mind are hard to erase, but not impossible. We decided to send you on a honeymoon just to get used to each others presence. There you could spend time with each other, understanding each other. Take it slow, just begin as friends. Consider yourselves as friends who have just met, give a chance for your friendship to grow. Please , would you both do this for me (avantika pleaded)
Uday and manyta both had to agree, they could not say no to avantika, both of then agreed to try.

Uday and manyta was warmly welcomed in devgarh, after all the rituals, they were both free,
they sat outside on a bench in the garden. Looking this scene from above jai was feeling mad, HOW COULD MANYTA GET UDAY? She hated manyta more . oh god. She could not prevent the wedding, it was already decided between the elders, now they were married , there was just one way left, DESTROY THEIR MARRIAGE. She knew what she would do.

Jai caught up with manyta as she was going to her room
Jai in a sad tone,: now a days you dont even care for me, you forgot your jiji( pretends to cry)
M: oh, jiji please dont cry, you know I wont do that to you, you know that na, please dont cry na
J: are you happy manyta? Tell me? I know my kid sister was forced into this marriage.
M: you know the answer better than me jiji, you are my soul. I just wish
J: manu, dont worry. See , let me give you an advise, you see in marriage, never ever be the weak person, dont give up. If there is any problem between uday and you, let him come and say sorry . remember you were a royal before he became one, so never let him order you. Just be yourself. Remember if he had not agreed this marriage would not have happened. He is using this marriage to take revenge on you, so dont let that happen.
M: I know jiji. I
Komal called manyta at that moment and so manyta cound not complete what she wa saying.
J: go manu, remember what I told you.
As manyta left the room, jai looked happy, she had planted the seeds of poison in her heart. Now she just need needed to water it up, then she needed to get uday in her pocket, she had a plan for that
She said to herself : so manyta, I wont allow you to live with uday in peace, I will make sure I destroy this marriage, uday is mine, manyta you have stolen a lot of things that was mine, so its pay back time, you will dance to my tunes, and she laughed evilly
She went to her cupboard and took a diary like book, and held it fondly to her chest. She said mama, I am close my goal, what ever I have done is for you, I know you are pleased with me. She took out a pen and began writing

That evening jai saw uday sitting alone and went to join him.
J: hi
U: hi jai, how are you.
J: iam fine uday, just came to ask you a small favour
U: what is it?
J: uday you know, I want to work , manu has already offered me a place in devgarh groups, but the people there know who I am so they would be very good to me, I wont know who is really good or not,and I dont want special treatment too. so could you give me a job in your company, the people there wont know who iam and I can work as any ordinary person?
U: ok, jai. I cant say no na, tomorrow you can go meet mr shanker, he will place you in a suitable department
J: thanks uday
And she kissed him on his cheeks and ran away embarrassed from there.uday just blushed hard.
