I am sure we all have memories that hurt us … memories of being ditched in love, memories of a friend who stabbed you in the back, memories of failing relationships, memories of fading love and others.

Many people just hold on to the memories since they long even when they hurt immensely. My questions is that is it worth clinging on to the memories that hurt you?

I agree we can't do much right after a depressing episode… I also agree that sometimes it's not under our control if we can forget something or not.

But I have seen many people who just don't want to forget and that makes their lives a burden… is it necessary? Can't we just forget the bad things and start our lives afresh with sweet smile?

No it is not worth it to cling on to memories that hurt you. We may not forget them but we can always learn from them and move on in life. Sad memories will only distort our view of the wonderful moments that are still to come in our life.

Agree with souro..I don't think you achieve anything positive with holding on to bad memories...but it may affect negatively to your happy present. It should be a learning episode and just better to forget or let go and move on....raat gayi baat gayi 😛

I also agree fully with Souro and Sowmyaa.

Never let your past get mixed up in your present so much that it could hurt your future. Never lose the lesson learnt and leave the hurtful reminder only for an inevitable moment of feeling weak / depressed.

I know easier said than done. Moreover, forgiveness doesn't come easy, yet it is easier to forgive than forget!

I dont think its worth it to cling on the bad memories, because in a way they keep you in the past and dont allow you to move on. But, I dont think you should forget them totally.

Its not easy to let go of memories. Especially the ones that have hurted you. Its indeed a very tough job. But its the best for you to let go those memories and move on in life. I know many of u mite feel that we should also learn a lesson from that but i dunt think so. I mean people do make mistakes. Its not like they do it on purpose. And not any two people in the world are same. Just bec one friend of urs broke ur trust, u shud start suspecting the other. You should just be careful but not let those memories live on u.

I certainly didn't mean that when I said we should learn from our not so good memories. Look at it in a different way, what do you learn when one friend of yours breaks your trust?? His/her character and a warning not to trust him/her again.

i agree there is no point in clinging on to memories but some times u cannot help it. it takes long and stil u cnt forget everything.
and u tend to be cautious in future.
but i knw one thing bad experiences do affect ur attitude ur outlook also.
