Jai spoke up, "What are you talking about Bani? The suspense is killing me, you should consider a profession is writing daily soaps you do a great job with hanging things in the air."
Bani closed her eyes, took a deep breathe and said, "It's about Pia."
It was as if Jai's worst nightmare was unfolding itself at this very moment. His heart shuddered to think of how this conversation might take a turn for the worst at any moment.
Not quite knowing what to say he just looked at Bani, almost pleading for her to leave this conversation now.
Bani knew what Jai was going through 'but this has to be done' she told herself.
Bani – I know you want to avoid this conversation but I don't want there to be any miscommunication between us. It has already almost cost us our relationship. So I am going to ask you this only once and I'll believe whatever you tell me.
Jai gulped hard, closed his eyes in prayer debating whether now was a good time to come clean or whether to keep it from her for a while. "And risk losing her again?", he asked himself incredulously.
Jai finally mustered up every ounce of courage he had and spoke up.
Jai – Bani lets start from the beginning. Pushkar had come clean to me when I accused him of…………..
Bani cut him short with a wave of her hand if he didn't know her better he'd think she was being brash.
Bani – Mr. Walia, I know all of that. I overheard your conversation with Aditya Uncle in the hospital. Is there anything else I should know?
Now it was Jai's turn to be the ignorant one. He stared at Bani not believing a word of what he just heard.
Jai- You were eavesdropping?
Bani – I was in the same room in the hospital. I was the patient. You make me out to be some kind of a compulsive eavesdropper.
Jai opened his mouth to say something but was again stopped in his tracks by Bani.
Bani – will you hear me out first?
Seeing Jai shut up she continued…….
Bani – I knew about all this. Everything that you saw between me a Tarun was all part of an act, written and directed by Nats. We were just playing along. And I did all this only so that you'd come clean to me. And I am truly sorry for all the heart ache I caused but you did deserve it.
Jai – That's your apology?
Bani – Who is apologizing? We've both done things we shouldn't have and we both know why we did it. The important thing is all the issues are resolved and we both know where our relationship stands.
Jai – but what has all this to do with Pia?
Bani – Pia needs to go back to Pushkar. And she needs to understand that she cant take her relationship with Pushkar for granted. And we need to find a way to do that.
Suddenly Jai's face lit up with a devilish smile.
