Firstly, I wanted to apologize for not being able to reply to everyone in my previous posts. It has been a really hectic weekend with everyone over for Independence Day and a ton of other things going on. But I am free now at least so it seems. I will reply back to everyone tonight, but I did not want to post this thread before I forgot what happened in today's episode.
Today's episode did not really have any romantic scenes, but there was a lot of background stories that we got to see that help to show why Jalal is the way he is.
I must say Rajat was fantastic in today's episode when portraying his grief. I can only imagine why he sees the world in such a pessimistic way. As a child he was taken away from his parents, missed them beyond a doubt but knew there was no way he could go to them. Furthermore, he witnessed the fight between his father and his father's brother which indirectly/directly involved him. Directly, involved him in the sense that he was to be killed by his uncle until his aunt saved him. Having to go through all of that as child must have been horrifying and very traumatizing because at such an age you don't know how to make sense of much of the world.
I cannot say that it was Jodha or anything that had to do with her that made Jalal change his decision because I don't think that was the case in today's episode. I think Ruqaiya was right! The only reason why Jalal changed his decision is because he saw himself in the little boy and did not want to become the reason that boy grew up without his parents. This was a glimpse of "Akbar" I would say.
By letting the boys parents go and the tears he had in his eyes remembering his childhood really help to show that Jalal is like any other man out there. He has a heart and he has emotions. There are two sides to him one is him as an emperor and one as an ordinary man. He just has to make those two people converge into one person to become the great emperor he later became and is now known as.
Now, it wouldn't be my post if I didn't find something "romantic" between Jodha and Jalal.
Jalal was telling Ruqaiya that "you experience the most amount of delight riding the horse that has once dropped you," which made me think of Jalal and Jodha's relationship and indirectly his frame of mind toward her and his relationship with her. Jodha is pretty much the horse in his life who he loves to ride because she doesn't give him the time of day and drops him all the time. She's wild and he wants to tame her, though, he knows that is probably not possible.
I also would like to say that Jalal is probably not that upset that Jodha won. I feel like he was trying to make Ruqaiya happy by saying he did care when in reality I think he was a bit shocked/delighted to see that Jodha is more capable then he esteemed/thought of her to be. I like how he tells Ruqaiya that "you shouldn't underestimate your enemy" but was underestimating Jodha the entire time. He was sitting in so much relief thinking Ruqaiya would win, but was left amazed when Jodha won. I think the only thing that helped to calm down Jalal's heart is the fact that Jodha said that she played to honor Jalal's request and not to win something. The slight smile on his face showed that he was happy that Jodha had said such a thing before politely refusing to accept him offer. In that moment, I think he should have or might have saw how much different Jodha is from his wives and especially Ruqaiya.
When Jalal was talking to Ruqaiya I felt as if he only wanted to make her feel better because he got her stuck in the situation to begin with, but he, himself was not upset over the fact that Jodha had won because he was somewhat happy over the fact that Jodha had said she played to "honor Jalal's request". Had Jalal seriously lost and was mad he would be huffing and puffing like he did when Jodha fed him the food that had too much chile. I am sure he would have told Ruqaiya how angry he was that Jodha had won because he always confides in her. I cannot seem to give him the credit of being so calm after having lost. That is not the Jalal I have seen thus far. Therefore, I believe the only reason he was calm is because Jodha had said the honor thing because let's face it Jalal is always dying to hear words of concern from Jodha's mouth. In fact, the only reason he is upset about the whole chile thing is because Jodha could care less about what he suffered and was more concerned with the well being of her parents. I think this line must have soothed his heart a little. Don't you guys think so?
What did you guys thinks of today's episode and Jalal's calm reaction? Please comment and let me know.
Thank you so much for reading. I will comment to all people from previous posts and today's post tonight. Sorry for the delay! And I promise to reply by tonight. š
