Sorry for the very long essay! Didn't realize how much I wrote till I pressed post! šŸ˜†

Firstly, I wanted to apologize for not being able to reply to everyone in my previous posts. It has been a really hectic weekend with everyone over for Independence Day and a ton of other things going on. But I am free now at least so it seems. I will reply back to everyone tonight, but I did not want to post this thread before I forgot what happened in today's episode.

Today's episode did not really have any romantic scenes, but there was a lot of background stories that we got to see that help to show why Jalal is the way he is.

I must say Rajat was fantastic in today's episode when portraying his grief. I can only imagine why he sees the world in such a pessimistic way. As a child he was taken away from his parents, missed them beyond a doubt but knew there was no way he could go to them. Furthermore, he witnessed the fight between his father and his father's brother which indirectly/directly involved him. Directly, involved him in the sense that he was to be killed by his uncle until his aunt saved him. Having to go through all of that as child must have been horrifying and very traumatizing because at such an age you don't know how to make sense of much of the world.

I cannot say that it was Jodha or anything that had to do with her that made Jalal change his decision because I don't think that was the case in today's episode. I think Ruqaiya was right! The only reason why Jalal changed his decision is because he saw himself in the little boy and did not want to become the reason that boy grew up without his parents. This was a glimpse of "Akbar" I would say.

By letting the boys parents go and the tears he had in his eyes remembering his childhood really help to show that Jalal is like any other man out there. He has a heart and he has emotions. There are two sides to him one is him as an emperor and one as an ordinary man. He just has to make those two people converge into one person to become the great emperor he later became and is now known as.

Now, it wouldn't be my post if I didn't find something "romantic" between Jodha and Jalal.

Jalal was telling Ruqaiya that "you experience the most amount of delight riding the horse that has once dropped you," which made me think of Jalal and Jodha's relationship and indirectly his frame of mind toward her and his relationship with her. Jodha is pretty much the horse in his life who he loves to ride because she doesn't give him the time of day and drops him all the time. She's wild and he wants to tame her, though, he knows that is probably not possible.

I also would like to say that Jalal is probably not that upset that Jodha won. I feel like he was trying to make Ruqaiya happy by saying he did care when in reality I think he was a bit shocked/delighted to see that Jodha is more capable then he esteemed/thought of her to be. I like how he tells Ruqaiya that "you shouldn't underestimate your enemy" but was underestimating Jodha the entire time. He was sitting in so much relief thinking Ruqaiya would win, but was left amazed when Jodha won. I think the only thing that helped to calm down Jalal's heart is the fact that Jodha said that she played to honor Jalal's request and not to win something. The slight smile on his face showed that he was happy that Jodha had said such a thing before politely refusing to accept him offer. In that moment, I think he should have or might have saw how much different Jodha is from his wives and especially Ruqaiya.

When Jalal was talking to Ruqaiya I felt as if he only wanted to make her feel better because he got her stuck in the situation to begin with, but he, himself was not upset over the fact that Jodha had won because he was somewhat happy over the fact that Jodha had said she played to "honor Jalal's request". Had Jalal seriously lost and was mad he would be huffing and puffing like he did when Jodha fed him the food that had too much chile. I am sure he would have told Ruqaiya how angry he was that Jodha had won because he always confides in her. I cannot seem to give him the credit of being so calm after having lost. That is not the Jalal I have seen thus far. Therefore, I believe the only reason he was calm is because Jodha had said the honor thing because let's face it Jalal is always dying to hear words of concern from Jodha's mouth. In fact, the only reason he is upset about the whole chile thing is because Jodha could care less about what he suffered and was more concerned with the well being of her parents. I think this line must have soothed his heart a little. Don't you guys think so?

What did you guys thinks of today's episode and Jalal's calm reaction? Please comment and let me know.

Thank you so much for reading. I will comment to all people from previous posts and today's post tonight. Sorry for the delay! And I promise to reply by tonight. 😃

Indeed a good epi but no akhda scenes 😭...
I do agree with you that it was not about Jodha that he release the parents of the boy n changed his decision, he did not want the boy to go through wat he has been trough. Somehow i understand why Jalal gives too much importance to BK & MA. they was with him in time of need n he will do anything to keep them happy...No wonder MA takes advantage of it...
Loved the flashback, who ever thought that behind an Emperor theres story of a lonely boy. He has everything an an emperor but the childhood that he lost n wanted will never be the same for him ever. Hes really lonely inside. Ruqaiyya being his best fren n wife was fast to note why did he made such decision...n she was indeed right... Somehow i felf ruqaiyaa felt bad as well as she could not give him the love he craves for... she just plays mind games with him but his heart is left untreated...šŸ˜† theres wer Jodha fills in i guess šŸ˜†... I really hope in future Jodha tries to get to know Jalal more, this guy story is fascinating & sad as well...
Im happy that Jodha did not wait to see the softer side of Jalal... Its good in my view... N she went to her Kanha...šŸ˜†... I would like to see Jodha falling for Jalal even though with thoughts of her hes cruel... That would be fun... Even she knows his cruel like she claimed her heart cannot stop loving him...The battle between love n hatred in her heart... n then later when she comes to know his softer side loves him even more...😳... ATM let them fight, argue do anything...šŸ˜†

A very insightful post! 😊
I was not that surprised by Jalal's reaction towards Jodha winning, but I think he was surprised by her response. I knew Jodha was going to win, even though it was not her turn lol. But I feel he was personally rooting for her to win just so she can ask for something from him. But she says she doesn't want anything and actually did this to keep his respect.

I also loved the flashback into his life. Any adult with his childhood would have turned out brutal, but Jalal didn't. He has a gentleness to him that needs to be nurtured. But everyone around him tends to push that down and bring out the fire and rage within him. Jodha does the same, but I think she will bring out his human qualities instead of squelching them.

There was no romance in today's scene but the scene between Jalal and the kid was nice because I have seen real examples of that (not involving royalty lol). It gave a pleasant visual into the importance of a parental figure in a child's life.

@riyya6, I would love to see the underline part happen šŸ˜†

I agree completely, Ela, which is why I wrote in my post that it was a left-handed compliment. Jalal, being no fool, knows that, and all that registers with him is the rejection of his firman, which obviously rankles badly.

He is upset and disappointed about Jodha winning, coupled with reluctant admiration of her tenacity and resourcefulness in a tight situation. But more than that, he is readjusting his tactics towards her, to take into account his realisation that she is tougher, cooler and more capable than he had thought initially.

Whence the comment to Ruqaiya about not underestimating your opponent. That is not said just to calm her down, it is what he feels. Jodha to him is not a beloved mount that he caresses and feeds with lumps of sugar. She is a wild filly whom he wants to break in any which way, and he does not have many options. Perhaps that is why he will choose the death penalty for Motibai, as he knows for sure that Jodha will then have to come to him and eat humble pie wrt the firman.

Dear Riya,

First of all, I like this one very much. It takes a certain line, and argues for it coherently and with conviction. I was particularly taken with the part in blue.

Only, it is not possible to do that all the time, with the best will in the world, when you are an emperor. Otherwise you are likely to end up like Prithviraj Chauhan, destroyed by his own nobility. Jodha, being a princess from a minor riyasat, does not understand the imperatives of imperial power at all, whence her naive pronouncements, about adhikar wo jo dil se maana jata hai, as she says to Ruqaiya in the jaziya affair. When there is a clash between the man and the emperor, the emperor has to prevail, otherwise soon there will be no empire left.

Secondly, I am not on the same page as you about the reason for Jalal's calm reaction. This was in bhari sabha, and he himself says to Ruqaiya, citing his Khan baba's maxims, he would never show his frustration about the outcome, that is all. The parallel with the chilli incident does not really hold, for there too he held on to his outward calm with great self control, and raged at Jodha only in private. He then thought she had hurt him deliberately. Here it is quite different, so all he can accuse he of is of insulting him by rejecting the reward he offered, and this he is going to do today.,

That is why I wrote in my own post about this episode that what Jodha said, about having played Shahenshah ka maan rakhne ke liye, was a left-handed compliment. Jalal, being no fool, knows that, and all that registers with him is the rejection of his firman, which obviously rankles badly. It, and the collapse of his plan to pull Jodha down a couple of pegs, has probably wiped out the empathy he felt for her after the banjara incident, which was shown by his daydreaming of her holding a flag amidst the banjara dancers.

He is upset and disappointed about Jodha winning, coupled, it is true, with reluctant admiration of her tenacity and resourcefulness in a tight situation. But more than that, he is readjusting his tactics towards her, to take into account his realisation that she is tougher, cooler and more capable than he had thought initially.

Whence the comment to Ruqaiya about not underestimating your opponent. That is not said just to calm her down, it is what he feels. Jodha to him is not a beloved mount that he caresses, as he seems to do with any horse near him, and feeds with lumps of sugar. She is a wild filly whom he wants to break in any which way, and he does not have many options. Perhaps that is why he will choose the death penalty for Motibai, as he knows for sure that Jodha will then have to come to him and eat humble pie wrt the firman.

None of the above takes away anything from my admiration for your lucid post.

The episode was emotional in one bit...and mostly hilarious in all the other bits to me..!

The main thing being the chess game...the chess experts (i m not even one!) would have had a heart attack seeing the ridiculous manner the game was played...!

Seriously...the first public show-off of Jodha-Ruqqaiyaa and so not worth the hype...Well ur post deosn't mention tht so gonna keep tht aside..loll!

YES...the Jalal scene was one FABULOUS scene in todyas episode...even with bloopers it stood out to me..LOLL

It was funny how instead of Jalal the minister himself came nd sentenced the punishment to tht man asking Jalal for justice...why was Jalal even called then...LOLL

Anyways...Jalal's emotions outbursting in front of everyone was a treat to watch...just in few minutes he transitioned from a Cruel King to this ordinary guy..What a well said line - There are two sides to him one is him as an emperor and one as an ordinary man. He just has to make those two people converge into one person to become the great emperor he later became and is now known as.

Its difficult for a person to be two extremes that Jalal is ...Rude/Shrewd...and Emotional/Caring. He as an emperor cant really be the latter...and he hasnt really found somone with whom he can be the latter...Jodha is going to bring out that in him!

Have to say...Rajat hit the nail in the scene...the way he portrayed a man who has been thru all the pains in his childhood...maintaining the Emperor dignity in him...was GOOD..šŸ‘

Oh wow...The visual of Mahamanga and Jalal was so nice to see...How i miss their interactions...nowadays all Jalal does is walk to Ruqqaiya...nd sit and gossip abt Jodha UFFF! Where is the political planning...lolll!

LOLLL...the Jalal and Ruqqaiya scene was very funny to me...Ruqaiyya is irritating now..nd even few seconds Jalal spends with her...i feel is a waste of time for the Emperor!

But i liked how Ruqqaiya shut tht Rukshar up..lolll...there was this bit of sane and interesting Grey Ruqqaiya in it...at that time she was more concerned about Ruksar indicating her Jalal as someone who just changes decision...than Ruksar mocking her losing in chess.
