Chapter-8:
"A"Arnav?"
He heard her voice, even as he registered his own astonished stance, his insides churning into a tiny flip-flop as he allowed his body to turn around in a swift moment.
"Ar--nav right?" her voice was shuttering, he noticed and flinched internally as something about the look in her eyes told him that this isn't going to be any good.
"Yeah, Arnav, you know me, don't you?" he asked hopefully.
"And---and was it you, th"that night?" she asked her voice still trembling, her breathing not quite settled in and it did scare him to witness her terror, more because it was directed at him.
"Ye"yes, I can explain---" he tried to take a step ahead when he heard her squeal
"Oh my god!!!! How could you?" she wailed with her horrified voice even as he stood there completely bewildered. "Why?"
"Khu---"
"NO!!! Please! Don't!" she yelled again her voice breaking, her eyes flickering to his steps causing him to decided against making any kind of move as he continued to look at her completely clueless.
"Even you wanted just that from me? Even back then?? All the time?? Hell I should have known! But then how would I? I was such nave foolish one back then, and---"
"What the hell are you talking about?" He found himself losing his temper as his own voice rose a few decibels higher causing her to jerk instantly and the fear that has become a constant emotion in her eyes only grew, even if that was possible. f**k! Patience was never in his favorite list of emotions.
"I"I'm--"
"I'm sorry--" she completed his words with the same shuddering tone and just when he thought her apology was because she accused him, he heard her next words that completely left him baffled.
"I shouldn't have used that tone with you, I apologize, please please don't punish me, please" she cried, tears pouring out of her tired eyes, desperation combined with dreading evident in her hazels as all he did was just look on, dazed.
"What??" he found himself utter incredulously. "Khu---"
"Please---" she whimpered her voice choking; as her breathing became heavier and she struggled on the bed in-taking heavy breathes with her bossom heaving up and down. He rushed at once to her side in an attempt to comfort her but instantly stopped in his tracks at a mere two feet distance when he realized that she mistook his advancing again, as her panic reached heights and she nodded her head refusing any kind of proximity from him.
His rage combined with helplessness irked him even more when the breeze of sweet orchids almost suffocated his lungs and he clenched his teeth, digging his nails into his fist, as he resisted the extreme urge to dismantle the little hospital room equipment.
"DOCTORR!!!!" he yelled his voice enough to bring down the floor above him, when yet again he stood there and watched as a rush of activities commenced in that room instantly"an oxygen mask was attached to her mouth, sleeping drugs injected into her saline, BP machines being equipped around her arm and he kept his steady concerned gaze on her struggling self, even as he was being dragged out of the room by his friend, into the corridor, away from the room and into the adjoining cabin.

"What the hell was that Arnav??"
Angad asked once they were in his cabin closing the door behind him. Arnav instantly advanced on his feet representing a ferocious destructive beast, as he turned around in one swift moment holding Angad's collar.
"Did you already forget what you asked me to do?" he snapped as his eyes threw dangerous venom right into Angad's bewildered ones. Angad just stared into his friend's eyes quite aware of his fury and steadily eased himself away from him. He then sighed as if processing some kind of information even as Arnav continued to throw daggers at him.
"What's going on here, may I ask?" he said nonchalantly while straightening his own collar, walking around the room to stand against his desk, crossing his legs.
"Don't use that f**king tone with me!"
"What's making you so angry man??"
"Seriously?? You want to hear it out, don't you? Alright listen, the fact that I'm stuck here all these months and have been waiting for her to speak up, so I can finally get rid of that f**king case filed against me; the fact that I had been spending tons of money into the trust of this hospital, just to finally see this day and get done with it, the fact that I have wasted good few months of my life on a ridiculously complex female who wouldn't just give up on getting mysterious each passing day, and now, when I'm just a small talk away to find all my answers, she cannot even stand me in the same room and why???" he yelled breathlessly using his hand and pointed index fingers jerking down, completely occupied in his state of rage""because you the bloody intelligent, foolish doctor on earth have easily talked me to perform a f**king assault act to a freaking body which wouldn't even react yet remembers every damn thing!" he added clenching his teeth.
"Mind your language Arnav, this is a hospital for heaven's sake. And moreover, I dint suggest a sexual assault act'--" he used air-quotes sarcastically. "I was just suggesting that we should let her brain register such an intention from the opposite gender-- " he stressed "--and see if indeed this is the only thing that she is reacting to. We had been just witnessing her fluctuating heart-beat caused by the stories Lavanya has narrated, but I was just having this thought to try it literally and see what happens, but it was you, who took things in hands---"
"And how would you do that? Get any man to touch her improperly?"
"How does that bother you?"
"If you think she is just some random patient of yours on whom you can perform your stupid over-intelligent experiments just to prove your skill then let me make this very clear Angad, I'll not let that happen!"
"Oh really? So I'm the desperate one here? Super! And so you decide to take everything in your hands? Dint you realize you went overboard with your so called act and thus ended up earning the wrath from her? Although I'm not complaining the progress in her recovery, but seriously? Why am I the only one being blamed here?---"
"Just shut up!!" Arnav yelled yet again and this time Angad frowned annoyingly urging him to keep it low.
"Seriously Arnav you are over-reacting. You should be relieved to have earned a reaction; the CBI will be here any moment with their little interrogation, you will have your answers and so the much needed rescue from the case and off you can go!--"
"I---"
"And if it's your time, money and effort that you are concerned about, I'll let her know about it. She would need another few weeks to recover completely, I have already talked to physiotherapists who would be needed for her limbs; maybe she will give her vote of thanks to you and repay you later--"
"Will you just shut up already?" Arnav snapped clearly disoriented by the way in which his friend is making it all seem too easy when in reality he had been struggling to settle his mind into the much needed peacefulness about the situation he was in. "Who do you think you are to decide anything about her?"
"No one actually, just like you, but I take this great honor to be her doctor and being a doctor I can advice someone not to see my patient for her well-being--" Angad's voice suddenly became authoritative yet hesitant and he internally felt sorry for his friend who had been struggling with a lot of inner turmoil, much more than he would let on. As much as he did mean what he just said, it was his friend that he is more concerned about. Angad had been seeing him all these days and he knew his friend all too well to believe that he had done everything just for the reasons he claimed.
Having just been informed about Khushi's mental condition by the psychiatrist who recently consulted her, Angad was almost sure she wouldn't let Arnav around her and might even become hysterical about it. Him being around her after what happened that night would not only mean excess of stress to Khushi but would also add up to Arnav's never ending unusual concern for her, and this seemed like an uncertain tangle of situations to both of them. It would only result in messing up these already messed things. Right now what both of them needed is time and space. Khushi, more importantly needs to find her own way back to life which dint quite seem possible with Arnav being around. The recent encounter only added up to his already analytical mind and he now exactly knew what he had to do.
And right now, looking at how his friend's face took a complete U-turn from a destructing rage to disheartening paleness, how his eye-brows creased into a thoughtful frown, how his friend looked guilty, confused, determined and worried all at the same time, Angad was just more sure about what he have decided-- Arnav dint need any of it, but he also knew Arnav was not the ones to listen to a cordial conversation and hence he chose his own way.
"Look Arnav, as a doctor I cannot allow you any near to my patient, you have just seen it yourself what that might lead to, right now she needs time and I think your job ends here. Seriously though, if this all just about the case and the answers you need, you would be having all of it in new hours anyway--"
"What do you mean?"
"What exactly is it that you want from her?"
"Are you kidding me Angad? What the hell happened to your morals? After what I did to her, I"I just want to apologize dammit!, don't you get it? How am I suppose to be in peace after--"
"Why?" Angad simply asked without giving away any emotion through his voice and yet it was all enough for Arnav to be drawn into a daze. It was a simple question and yet he knew he was asking much more than the simple three letter word. The confidence in his eyes dipping instantly, the determination in his voice faltering off and his shoulders slumped, as he refrained himself from looking in his friend's eye.
"If it's just the apology, I'll make sure to convey and explain things to her once she gains her mental stability from the whole trauma" he added as Arnav just simply looked on not quite meeting his eyes.
Angad let out a bitter laugh and walked around dropping himself in his revolving chair. "You know Arnav, ever since I've known you, I've only seen you running away from things, when have you last been to your own home Arnav? Are you trying to tell me that you would now let go off that much needed chance to finally live your own life and wait here, until she would be ready to accept your apology?--"
"I never said that!"
"Then what is that you want from her bro, it's a simple question, just answer it--"
"Dammit Angad, just stop being the smart-arse trying to figure out everything or rather conclude everything the way you wanted, I said it's the apology I'm concerned about, so it is the apology. There is no underlying meaning to it, do you get it??" he spat resuming his initial rage.
"And you know what? I'm done with all this shit. I'm done with this freaking place of a hospital, I'm done with a maroon of a doctor like you, I'm done with a complex female like her and I'm done having to constantly think through things which doesn't even concern me in any damn way!, just"just--" Arnav cursed under his breath and turned around quickly decided to let go of it all.
"I'm out of here!" he announced one last time before banged the door behind him walking out of the cabin in long strides and out of the hospital completely possessed by his undefined rage.

Okay firstly hello to all of you, I'm Dedeepya, thank you so much for reading my story; I was nervous about the mystery in this, but I guess things fell into place and I'm so glad you all liking this story. Well anyway initially I was not keen on promoting my story much given the fact that I might not be able to update as regularly as expected, but thanks for the suggestion from a few of you-- thanks for the one who asked me to update in the story name--

Now I've quite figured out my own way of keep updating regularly, so I take this step to talk to you all at this point of time.
Regarding PM's-- yes I do PM, but I send PM's to the ones in my friend list, I figured that would be easy-- but if there is any other easy way, please do suggest me.
Finally, sorry for this delayed update, like I said I've figured out my way, I have another coming up in a few hours a very looong one. That reminds me, yes the last two updates have been quite short because I wanted them to end in particular way before leading to next instance, even this one is smaller, but the next one is gona be really loong!
I hope you like my story further, and I hope it would come out as I've dreamed of this story. Thank you all once again!
