Here is the interpretation to Section 1 of Part 7.

It is said every action has an equal and opposite reaction, popularly known as Newton's third law of motion, and this is what this update is about.REACTIONS in general and RIPOSTE in particular.

"The Law of Karma is also called the Law of Cause and Effect, Action and Reaction and: as you sow, so shall you reap"

~ Sham Hinduja

That is why this is titled RIPOSTE.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO ALL...

Congratulations on the new thread!

So young in age! he thought with a pang in his heart as he looked down at her. And so old in her ways at times. Old before her time. Wise beyond her years. And so playful at times, bearing the weight of her tragic childhood apparently with ease. A small smile played on his lips… Arnav sees the pain she carries in her heart, a pain that is always hidden behind her smile and her habit of always putting others before herself. At long last he has learnt to value Khushi for her selflessness and tenacity. His desperation is palpable as he realises how quickly time is trickling away and he is no closer to making her change her mind about her decision to separate once the contract ends… her love for him is not in doubt but he has failed to show her his love or to make her believe in it… in other words, his credibility, at least on the question of love, is shot! He regretting his foolish decision to set a time limit for their marriage is the height of irony because previously he was desperate for an excuse to kick her out of his life whereas now he's fighting to hold on to her! She couldn't live apart from him, any more than he could, he comforted himself… that is no comfort, actually and he is only deluding himself... he should also remember that Khushi is someone who is willing to sacrifice her own happiness and her very life so that no sorrow or harm comes to her loved ones… if she believes he is better off without her, that is what she'll do, irrespective of how it destroys her! Despite noticing the rose he held and maybe even realizing he must have been running it up and down her cheek, her thoughts don't linger on romance… rather, she is immediately concerned for his wellbeing… it's a relief to see Arnav admit to his lack of judgement and to the gravity of his sins against her! From the day we met, steam has been coming out of your ears like it does from a train engine... funny yet apt simile! In many ways, Arnav has been a coward, abandoning Khushi to face the questions and the wrath of both their families being a case in point! Moreover, he kept punishing her without having the courtesy to tell her what for or giving her the chance to defend herself! Khushi doesn't want to have a heart-to-heart talk with Arnav wherein things might get cleared up and she will be tempted to rethink her decision to leave him... that way lies heartbreak: often she has been given a glimpse of heaven only to be thrown into the very pits of hell, thanks to Arnav's cowardice and lack of trust. Quite poignant to note Khushi's attempts at proving to Arnav just how immature and unrealistic her dreams of marriage and her prospective groom were: I thought that when I met the man I would want to marry, flowers would rain from the sky, there would be band baaja and fireworks, stars and lights would shine bright, it would be an occasion of joy and laughter…" while the first part is hardly possible, Arnav must have blanched at the realisation of having robbed Khushi of the latter part, too! In the midst of that scene, Arnav jealously wanting to wring the neck of the imaginary boy come to see Khushi lightens the mood [the custom of putting the girl on display like some prize cow or horse about to be bought is demeaning and insulting!]. So does the vivid picture she draws of her own clumsiness and the chaos it results in: "I can't walk without tripping even on normal days, Arnavji. Imagine me with the tray, sari, and pallu! I would have emptied the tray on the boy's lap. Instead of flowers, I would have a shower of abuses from his parents. The fireworks would be in the groom's pants, what with the hot tea and all, Amma and Buaji would bajao my band, and I would see stars after Buaji thumped me on the head… the part in italics is the most hilarious by far... no wonder Arnav couldn't help but chuckle. Khushi pretending to question his deal making abilities must have reminded him of all the times he had boasted to her of his business acumen and his ability to win deals at any cost. "As it should have been for you too," she chided him for reading too much into their hasty wedding... what a role reversal... the shoe is truly on the other foot, now! There is no mention of herself as Khushi enumerates what's important in Arnav's life... seems as if his attempts to prove to her, again and again, that she has no place in his life have finally borne fruit. She is hell-bent on giving him his freedom. It is a treat to see Khushi throwing back in his teeth all the cutting words he had said to her and all he can do is silently listen to her while writhing under the lashes of his conscience! At the same time, her words are a clear indication of the pain buried in her heart because of Arnav's unprovoked insults and accusations... no amount of grovelling or number of apologies will erase it. "What is love?" she asked finally... can't wait for his answer to this very pertinent question! Khushi's confusion and disillusionment is understandable... how can one claim to love another when one constantly puts down that person? Also how can one not trust the object of one's lover or give her the benefit of the doubt or at least a chance to clear her name?

Now the same clause that he had used as a cloak of protection had become a mill stone around his neck... Rashmi, how well you've described it! For Arnav Singh Raizada, his shatir dimaag turned out to be the stumbling block in his love life! For Khushi Kumari Gupta, Singh Raizada for a wee bit longer, his shatir dimaag proved to be a blessing in disguise giving her arsenals, to anticipate as well as counter his every move... just wow! A beautiful interpretation as a whole and the conclusion was just bang on!
