Her wooden expression continued until everyone had finished the mandatory 'hugging' and 'ashirwad' session. When Uday opened the car front door for her, he could see a lone tear that had escaped its barrier, but when he looked again it was gone. He sat in himself and drove off towards her new home. Their mutual relatives waved at them from behind.

There was absolutely no sound in the car. Not even breathing sound.

"lagta hai humari dulhan badal gayi last moment par, tum Manyata hi ho na?" Udayveer said and his voice startled her.

"aap aisa kyon kehrahe hain? Aap jo chahte the woh hogaya..ab kya chahte hain aap?" her reply was curt.

He didn't answer. He switched on the radio and whistled to the song that was playing. The song was

'Tune zindagi me aake zindagii

oh zindagi badaldi…

tune pyar yoon nibhake zindagii

oh zindagi badaldi'

Before the song could play for more than 30 seconds, she had extended her hand in the semi darkness and switched the radio off. Then thought of something immediately and switched it on again.

"Manyata, tumhe accha nahi laga toh phirse On kyon kiya?" Uday asked.

"mujhe sangeet se naftrat hai..isiliye off kiya; par yeh gaadi aap ki hai..mera koi haq nahi ki main ise haath lagaoon..so use phirse on kiya" she said in the business like manner to which Uday was fastly getting used to.

Neither of them said anything further and Manyata thought about the stark difference between the wedding she had dreamed off eversince childhood and the wedding she had actually had. Her dream was small, ok not so small; her prince would sweep her off her feet; yes he did.

Her wedding would be most grandest..yes it was. Her friends would be jealous seeing her luck, yes they were…so what are you complaining against? You've got everything yet you crib!! But what about the stupid insipid thing called 'love'?..

Perhaps god had forgotten to include it in her destiny.

Uday shook her shoulder really hard suddenly and she looked back at him with annoyance. "ghar aagaya, chalo mere saath.." he said. The car had stopped.

One more act of the comedy play her life had become.

She began to move ahead and Uday said "stop" she stopped. "tum aise andar nahi jaa sakti" he said and pulled her chunari forward so that it covered her face.

"woh kya hai DS bohot traditional type ki hain, isliye" he justified his action.

Manyata felt like smiling. He was being mindful of someone? Did he have that side too?

She was having difficulty in seeing through the heavy veil she had worn. He walked behind her and just as she was about to trip on a rock he held her by hand.

"chodiye mujhe..mujhe kisi ke sahare ki zaroorat nahi hai" she said.

They were home now and she was welcomed with much fan fare. Uday's sister troubled him for 'neg' while coming in and he gave up without much haggling. She kicked the 'lota' full of rice with her right leg and entered her new home.

'Tune zindagi me aake…' stupid song!! Why did it come to her mind now?

Kabir bid his adieus to the couple who had specially come to the station to see him off. He had told his baba about his changed feelings for Manyata and his father was happy hearing it. Kabir touched his feet and took his blessings.

The train arrived and Kabir sat in the reserved place. His mind was picturising the welcome he was going to get once he reached the village. He hadn't called anyone to inform them about his arrival because he wanted it to be a surprise. Arjun would mew the loudest and Uncle Aunty would be so ecstatic. The thought of next person brought him a dreamy smile that was becoming a habit these days.

Manyata would be so happy seeing him return earlier than stipulated. Wait a sec, she could almost read his mind isn't it? Will she be able to guess? That would be great…

It was 12PM in the night and Manyata sat on her marital bed. Following her mother's instructions to the T. Her groom came in and she stiffened. She had not got the chance to think about 'that' the entire day.

He lifted her veil and pulled it off her head. As soon as he did that she became alert and stood up making him to stand as well.

"dekhiye..aisa mat keejiye..please" she said in a low voice.

He ignored her like she wasn't there and reached behind her, towards the buttons on her back. "chodiye mujhe" she said again and it fell on deaf ears. Her patience was wearing thin and she let it go.

"dekho, mujhe haath mat lagao warna main chillaoongi" she raised a finger at him.

"jaaneman, shaadi ki raat toh har dulhan chillati hai..and yeh room sound proof hai, jitna chillana hai chillao.." somebody wipe off that obnoxious smirk off his face.
